“Beautiful hotel that needs some work.”
Reviewed 6 September 2013 via mobile

The staff of the hotel were very sweet and helpful. When we got into our room we loved it, however problem number 1-the heating couldn't be turned down and we sweated each night away! Problem number 2-the pillows were torture! In the five days I spent there I didn't get one night of proper sleep. Problem number 3-the wifi was a joke! It took half an hour to load one page, and that was if we were lucky!!

But otherwise the food was tasty with a vegetarian option and the hotel was cosy and very pretty. To get to the ski slopes we had to walk 2 minutes to the bus station and wait for a bus that was quite full. It took about 10 minutes to get to the ski lift. The village has everything one would need, a super market, souvenir shop, bakery and chemist.

Went on our honeymoon the Alpbach, and decided to go back for our 25th wedding anniversary. Lovely relaxing holiday, fabulous weather, and the food (HB) was amazing, my husband is fussy eater, so whatever he wanted they cooked. They made our special holiday amazing, we were given champagne just after our breakfast on our anniversary and a huge bouquet of flowers in our room. The housekeeping staff did some washing for us at no charge. There was a wonderful view from hour balcony. It was spotlessly clean. We did find our room very warm as it was a little smaller than we would have liked, but we blame the people we booked the holiday with (our travel agent), as they did not let us know how big the rooms were. And we could only open our balcony door and not the window as that actually opened onto the next door balcony, but after a day I asked if they had a fan, and they supplied us with one for the rest of our stay. We absolutely loved it there, the pool was quiet to relax by, and even though we are not walkers there was still plenty for us to do and places to go. Perhaps air conditioning for the future. BRILLIANT, WOULD GO BACK AGAIN.XXXXX

I was staying with relatives but enjoyed a family meal here and it was exceptional. I think you would have to be very unfortunate to be served a bad meal here. From the appearance of the Restaurant and the service we received it would be difficult to imagine it would be otherwise elsewhere in the Hotel

Stayed at this hotel from 18th May for 7 nights with Inghams. Flight and transfer great, no queues at Innsbruck airport (unlike LGW!) and bags appeared quickly.

On arrival at the hotel staff were very friendly and immediately made us welcome and gave us our free tourist (Alpbachtal Seenland) card which is great value with free local buses & gondolas. The room we were allocated was spacious with views of the mountains and had a bath for long soaks after a day hiking.

The food throughout the week was excellent and the choice of dishes was good but they would cook you something different if nothing was suitable. Special mention to Katy would could not do enough for us and was always on hand with a smile to make sure we were satisfied.

There are numerous lovely hikes if you want to stay active and the hotel will recommend some destinations to try or our resort rep (Sharon) helped us out with a couple of suggestions and we would return to the resort & hotel tomorrow if it wasn't for the necessity to work.

Thank you to all the staff at the Hotel Post for making our stay so enjoyable and I would encourage anybody to try this area and don't be put off by the few bad reviews that are also on this site.

Lovely hotel but what a disappointing meal. We hadn't been to Alpbach for several years so were looking forward to sampling the food there once again. Two of the group chose the fish with baby onion risotto. It was covered in butter which was actually congealed on the plate. Yuk. We managed to eat most of the fish but left all of the rice. It was totally inedible. We won't be going back there in a hurry.,

We've just enjoyed our 11th stay at this hotel and our 21st holiday in Alpbach. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and the food is excellent.
Breakfast is a buffet, including eggs and bacon, and sets you up for a day's skiing. If you are on half board, the evening meal is salad, soup, starter, main and pudding. There are 2 choices for the main course and we've enjoyed trying some typical Tyrolian dishes.
The only negative is that the bar remains a smoking area, and there isn't a hotel lounge, so at the end of the day, there is nowhere to have a drink (unless you smoke, which we don't). This is why I have given it a very good rather than excellent rating.
Fortunately there is an excellent bar, the Postalm, just across from the hotel, so we end up there most days. It has a great atmosphere and can get very lively, with the locals dancing on the bar!
The hotel is very convenient for the ski bus stop, and underneath the Postalm, there is Conny's ski shop for ski and boot rental or purchase. We bought our skis there and they provided excellent after sales service when they repaired my broken binding this year for free.
Alpbach is a lovely alpine village with lots of intermediate skiing, and it is even better with the arrival of the new lift linking it to the Wildschonau area, in particular Auffach, with a lovely run all the way from the top of the Schatzberg to the village.
We will certainly return to the Post and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We had booked thru Wanderweg Tours, so we were prepaid for 2 night. They put us in the "annex" which is right next to the town bar. Dregs and hoodlums, these bar-goers were shouting and raucously laughing, running up and down the street, throwing bottles and urinating outside our window most of the night, until 3 AM. If this were the USA we'd be able to call police and they'd manage the problem. But no police presence in Alpbach at all. We got no sleep, as we had planned to get up at 6 and start hiking. We begged the manager to put us in another room (there are lots of quiet rooms in the main hotel). They strung us along, saying sure we'll move you, until they filled up with their (European) clients, then they told us at 6 PM, "Too bad, we have no room in the main lodge." 2nd night: full repeat of night 1. I would never go back there, it brings back horrible memories. Management deceitful and non-responsive.
