We ate in 6 different restaurants during our stay in Alpbach and found the food here to be the most varied and imaginative. In some of the other restaurants we found that a lot of the meat dishes were either cooked in or covered with an ubiquitous sauce consisting mainly of onions and tomatoes, so the meat tended to be tough and overcooked. The choice at the Wiedersbergerhorn, where we ate more than once, was much wider - traditional Austrian cuisine, extremely interesting salads, a variety of pasta including home made lemon tagliatelle, carpaccio of venison with honey - what is more, the cost was very often less than at other establishments. It was lovely sitting on the terrace under the awning with a cold beer in the heat of the day, the service was friendly and efficient and if we were to go back to the area we would consider staying here.
