Hotel Trofana Classic
Ranked #13 of 107 Ischgl B&B and Inns
Reviewed 2 March 2014

The Trofana Classic has a very central position in Ischgl which makes it hard to get enough sleep. Either the in-house disco is too noisy or the drunken people from the street below make it hard to fall asleep. Unfortunately, the room was overheated and the bed too small, we could not open the window because of the noise so it was a sleepless Holiday..... The dinner was OK, four courses with average Quality, the breakfast small but nice, people there were friendly and parking was taken care of. The Spa was small but nice. Unfortunately, the hotel is very dark because it is in the middle of the town and does not get much sunshine.

Just finished a one week stay in Trofana. The hotel is well located in the center of Ischgl which means you are always 5 minues walk from the bars, the ski lift and clubs.
This means when you finish your snowboarding or skiing on slope 1 red, you are just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
The restaurant is very good, we had a 5 course menu that chaged evey day. You see many people coming from outside to eat at the restaurant, it is really good.

The staff is very friendly, they smile all the time and help with every question. Our party had vegeterians, non tuna eaters and other unique needs, but the staff helped each time.
The hotel is not cheap but if you can afford it you will have an excellent stay.

used to stay 5-6 days every winter in Hotel Trofana. location and rooms are very nice and typical for a ski resort, only few minutes walking distance from the main cablecars.
downstairs there is a small but peaceful spa-relax place to enjoy and the restaurant is very good.
no downsides during my stay, maybe in highseason price are a little overrated.

Our group of 9 spent a week skiing at Ischgl at the end of February 2012. We had a mix of single and double rooms. The hotel staff were very accomodating, the meals were excellent, the Austrian wine suggestions were great, the rooms comfortable and the spa area was first class. Ischgl and the Trofana will warrant another visit by our ski group, probably next year. This hotel also has as good a location for accessing the morning lift as any in the village. Great hotel and a great experience.

Room Tip: The back side was less affected by the revellers departing the bars at 3AM.

The Hotel Trofana classic was just what we needed for a weekend getaway!

Finding a place to stay in Ischgl during the ski season is tough. Everyone seems to want to go there, nd I can't blame them. The slopes were amazing. We contacted the hotel about a week ahead of our trip to see if they had any available rooms for the last minute. Evelyn and Barbara at Reception arranged for us to have a 1 bedroom apartment for our stay. The price included half-board, which means breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate. At 145 Euro per person per night, it seems a bit high, and I was skeptical at first but by the time we left on Monday I was beyond satisfied.

The hotel sits in the city center, a busy place. We arrived at around 1pm and one of the staff helped me bring our snowboard gear into their ski-room. Each room has separate partitions for your own gear, and they have a boot warmer for overnight drying.

The staff parked our car and we were escorted to our apartment #212. Its one of three on the property I think. The room has one bedroom and a living room with foldout couch to accommodate up to 4 people. The bathroom was huge, and has a separate toilet room. There's plenty of storage and we had a plate of fresh fruit on the living room table on arrival. By staying here you also get a coupon book for discounts at the local gear shops and even coupons for free waxing!

The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the Dorftunnel, a tunnel with airport-style moving sidewalks that takes you straight to the Gondola A3. Perfect! Staying here gets you reduced lift tickets too they call it the VIP pass. After a long day of skiing/snowboarding you can relax in the hotel's wellness center. They have a Hot tub, 2 steam rooms, 2 saunas - one with aroma and light therapy, a tanning room (extra $), and massage room (extra $). there's also a solarium and a sleeping room. Very relaxing. Europeans like to do their wellness in their birthday suites, so try not to feel too akward if you decide to wear a bathing suit. The hotel asks you not to wear bathing suits in the saunas and steam rooms, but provides towels for covering up.

Dinner was a 5 course menu. On day one we enjoyed salmon tartar, carrot soup, salads, sea bass filet with risotto, and an fruit sorbet dessert. On day two we had a beef filet starter, shrimp and cucumber appetizer, beef consommé, bass filet, Venison filet with brown risotto, and a dessert bar. We split a bottle of wine the first night, and when we were done, they actually stored the rest for the next night. How awesome is that? Breakfast consists of your traditional Bavarian breakfast buffet. Cold cuts, smoked salmon, various fresh breads and pretzels, fruit juices, grains and cereals. Soft boiled eggs, coffee, and tea. And if that's not enough for you, You can ask for fried eggs and bacon, or an omelet free-of-charge! The hotel has a big nighclub/bar in the basement and you get free entrance there if you're a house guest. Ischgl is an expensive city if you want to party. having the club downstairs is a plus.

On our last day we checked out early, The staff put our bags in the wellness center while we enjoyed a half day of skiing. when we got back we changed in the wellness center and had lunch next door at the pizzeria. We came back and the car was readied for our return trip.

We had a wonderful time at the Trofana and we'll definitely stay here again if we can. The staff was beyond friendly. The restaurant was outstanding, the food - to die for. Location was perfect! Even though the hotel is expensive, I think that considering the discounts, service, location, and food quality, its well worth every penny. If you're looking for just a bed to sleep on then don't come here. I loved it!

Room Tip: Don't get your gar serviced until you check in so you can take advantage of the discounts. 2nd f...
