A warm welcome by Jill and found my room easily on the ground floor, a room for disabled guests with a huge en suite wet room, queen size bed, balcony, and a sitting area. Brilliant with decent towels and well serviced daily.
Kettle, small cup and saucer, fridge provided.
For 10 euros you can have 1L UHT milk and a plentiful bag of tea/coffee/sugar. Plenty for 2 for a week. Better value at the Spar shop 10 mins walk away. Evening meals were a bit of a let down, soup brilliant, salad bar had almost every thing pickled, and the service was like a school canteen .How ever we had fun and the wine was good.
Would I come again - Yes

Stayed here early June, the rooms and hotel in general are very nice, the swimming pools and spa areas are also very good. The food is what let's this hotel down, it is very basic food and definitely not 4 star. I would only give it 3 stars for the quality of the food.

Room Tip: Do not expect four star food.

Stayed here in February 2014 with hubby and 16 and 17 year old sons. We had 2 rooms, one upstairs from the other, both with balconies, 2 bathrooms, just perfect for our family. Jill and her staff are very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was a bit on the cool side for me but the boys loved it and were in it every night. The ski hire being in the hotel was so useful and was sorted out on our first night so we were ready to ski first thing in the morning. The breakfast had plenty choices even for a fussy eater like myself, no need to go hungry thats for sure. The dinners were different but nothing that wasnt tasty and with the salad buffet having so many choices sometimes we were struggling to finish our main course. Dessert was always good. Would recommend this hotel and am actually online at the moment trying to book for next year. Roll on the snow season.

Just spent a week at this hotel which is a typical Austrian Chalet style which has had several extensions built on making it a vey large hotel. It is beautifully located in the pretty village of Niederau and surrounded by picture postcard scenery. The hotel is up in the mountains and is reached by a very scenic winding mountain road. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean and kept so throughout the stay, we were disappointed at not having a balcony especially as the hotel was less than half full and most rooms appeared to have them. The shower was temperamental, you had to constantly adjust the temperature control to save being scolded or frozen. A kettle and cups are provided but no tea or coffee, these are available from reception in a pack with milk for 10 euro which does seem a bit penny pinching for a 4 star hotel.

There are some very comfortable lounges to relax and unwind in after a busy day sightseeing and the reception and bar staff always very friendly and available. Also a very beautiful and inviting indoor swimming pool.

Breakfast is the usual continental style with plenty of choices so something to please everybody, however the evening meal was totally different, no choice of starter, always soup, no choice of sweet either. There were 3 choices for the main one of which was vegetarian but all very uninspiring, there was a very good salad bar but this was only meant as a side dish for the main course. With the exception of the salad bar the food was unappetising, bland and lacked quantity. The service also left a lot to be desired with glum faced staff always in a hurry and who, instead of serving each table in turn served the most popular main course first to all tables followed by the next two this meant that on a couple of occasions on our table of four three of us had finished our course before the other received theirs. They were also leaning across diners to place plates on the table and clear them away. We did complain about the service and the following day the tables had been rearranged to make it easier for the staff to serve and it was much more relaxed with the staff smiling and engaging with the diners.

There were two very enjoyable evening excursions arranged by the hotel one being a Tyrolean evening in another hotel in the village with lots of singing, dancing and yodelling, the other was on a land train which went up the mountain meandering through local village's to a schnapps tasting and watching the sun set over the mountains.

We stayed at this hotel in December for our Leger trip Christmas markets ,and also in May this year for Leger Little trains of Austria ,it was clean, and well run, owners Gill and Herbert were very hospitable, the breakfast was well laid out (continental),
Evening meals were great, the salad buffet was brilliant,if you are on a diet don't go in to the self service cos you won't stop helping yourself to the salad buffet.
Could not fault this hotel, surrounding scenery is beautiful .
When we go to a different Christmas market this year we will be looking forward to going back to
Sonnschein again.
Pete & Jean Graves.

Room Tip: Room 203over looking the ski slope. Room 107 for a large balcony.

After a long journey by coach we arrived to a warm welcome at the hotel by Jill who is English so she knew what a long journey we had. The surrounding area is beautiful as the hotel is situated high up in the Austria mountains. The views and walks take your breath away. The hotel is very clean, rooms spacious and the food is good. There is a kettle in the room which you do not get in many hotels abroad, a safe which is free. The dinning area is spacious which means you are not on top of one another. This is the second time we have been to this hotel last time in the winter so the are wS just as beautiful but covered in snow.

This hotel run by an English woman is super. There are two parts, an old and new, My room was in the new where the rooms all have balconies with lovely views of the valley and the mountains.
The hotel was not full as summer is not as busy as the winter season. The staff were helpful and the hotel was very clean.
I would have liked some regional food specialities though, like strudlel and snitchel. The main courses were served plated which is not to everyone's liking. The salads were very good.
There was no choice of soups or deserts at dinner.
The hotel is in a good position for walks and the chairlift.
The hotel is reached on winding ,mountain roads through great trees,

Room Tip: If you can not find the towels in your beautiful bathroom look up and on a shelf, about 6 feet from...
