We have been fortunate to visit St Anton on 5 separate occasions (during the summer) in the last few years. Every visit has been outstanding. The people are very welcoming, friendly & helpful. It is without exception always clean with no litter to be found anywhere in our experience. It is a great base for exploring the area. Innsbruck, Vaduz, Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, Lech, the Kaunertal & Pitztal glaciers & the magnificent Silvretta High Alpine Road are all within 1.5 hours drive. We travel by car so are able to go some distance, but there is also a superb local bus service (free around the immediate villages) & rail service. The station is on a main line & is a regular stop for the Orient Express! The food has always been outstanding & of a very high standard. The local beer & wine is also excellent! We love walking & there are many fantastic walks in the surrounding area. There are a number of mountain huts dotted about which provide a full range of refreshments, all of which are of a high standard & well worth visiting in their own right. Our only gripe is that the 3 mountain lifts are not all open 7 days a week in the summer season (the Rendl only opens on Wednesday & Thursday) so you have to plan your walks carefully. It is, however, not expensive to buy a 7 day ticket covering all of them with unlimited use. We paid about €35 each. The town itself is relatively small, but there are a number of shops & cafes/restaurants. The Tyrolean evening which is held most Tuesdays in the Arlbergsaal is without doubt the best we've been to & provides excellent entertainment value. St Anton is a place everyone should visit at least once in their life if they have the chance to!
