We stayed here for 3 nights during a road trip en route to the Italian lakes but wished we had arranged to stay for longer. There was ample parking. On arrival the reception staff were helpful, friendly and very happy to provide information about the hotel and its amenities. They were also happy to recommend good walks and places to visit in the surrounding area. I understand that the hotel has recently been renovated. Our room was a good size and there were complimentary bottles of beer and water on arrival. Each day a chocolate was placed in the room for each guest. The bathroom was excellent with good quality fitments and bathrobes for each guest. There is free wi fi and DVDs of modern films are available at no extra cost. There is no air conditioning as this is mainly a hotel for winter sports, and the room could get quite hot depending on the weather.
The hotel has a very pleasant swimming pool with (rather cold) jacuzzi, spa rooms and a relaxation room with water beds. The latter has complimentary tea, coffee and various types of nuts available for guests. There is a small but well equipped gym. Towels are available in the gym, swimming pool and spa areas.
Breakfasts are buffet style with a wide selection of good quality food including meats, cheeses, smoked salmon etc. Eggs are available to order in whatever style you wish and these are available with sausages, ham, mushrooms or cheese.
The evening menu is limited to two choices but the food is excellent quality and very well cooked. Dinner was unavailable on one night of our stay because the chef was unwell. I would imagine that there would be some back up to cover this. during the skiing season.
We thought that the price we paid for our stay at the Valluga was very reasonable taking into account its comfort, quality and amenities. I appreciate that this is due to us visiting outside the skiing season and the hotel is undoubtedly more costly in Winter. We will return to St Anton as we think the area is lovely for walking, and when we do we will certainly stay at the Valluga again.
One comment I would like to make is that the hotel has been criticised in the past for a smell of tobacco smoke in the rooms. Due to the aforementioned refurbishment this is no longer the case but I would like to see notices advising guests not to smoke in rooms as I think it would be a pity for smoky rooms to become a problem again in the future.
