“Very good hotel”
Reviewed 2 November 2011

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend, in a h.b. ski package. It's located in a very good position near the church some church bells but no noise from the aprés-ski and 5 minutes walking to the Giggijoch. For the return after a day skiing, if there is snow enough, you can use a piste which arrives near the hotel. The room was very nice with a small balcony and the dinning was very good as we realized the restaurante was used by locals which can be considered as a good indicator.
As it was low season there was no one outside the main dinning room.

Locatad in the center of Sölden - not on the main road- but next to the church (church bells!). Gastronomic restaurant with professional service, but wines are very expensive. Free acces to Freizeit Arena with subtropical pool. Free parking and shuttle to the skilifts. Good price/quality balance.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and children during the winter ski season, February 2009. It is located in a good position, 5 minutes walking far from the Giggijoch cabin.
During the morning, they have a minibus that gets you to the Giggijoch valley station in few minutes; this service continues without interruption until around noon. For the return, you can use a piste which arrives near the hotel or you can leave the skis and ski-boots at the Check-in depot, owned by the Riml family, placed side by side to the Giggijoch lift: this is a free included service.
The room was big enough (2 Adults and 2 Children), with good space for all you have during a white week.
The only serious problem was the bathroom that was very small, with no space for anything (really a complaint).
The restaurant (breakfast and dinner for us) was excellent: one of the best I have tasted (said that by an Italian highly exigent like me).
The hotel includes a small but very nice and lovable Aqua Alpina SPA with sauna and jacuzzi.
The hotel has a comfortable free car parking and a garage (not free).

We have stayed here twice, in January 2007 and February 2009. The hotel is a typical traditional Austrian hotel with lovely woodcarved ceilings etc. The hotel is located close to the main road but yet in a quiet cul de sac next to the church. So you are not exposed to the drunken Dutch and Russian youths that frequent all the night spots until the early hours of the morning.
The rooms are fine, depending what you booked. The first time we stayed in a "Sölden" double room. There was a couch area "sitz ecke" as well. This time around we treated ourselves for an upgrade to a larger "Nederkogl" room, which should have a seperate sitting room. Although the room was moderately larger than the "Solden" double room, it didnt have a seperate sitting room - it was just more spacious. The website also tells you it has a clay oven. Dont be fooled - yes its there but it is merely a decorative piece. The bathroom was the biggest letdown - it was even smaller than the Solden-room's. I also get the impression that if you are not closely linked to the family, you get put in rooms in the "Haus B".
In terms of meals, food and variety was great, but also insist in dining in the main dining room, not the "poor cousin" next door which lacks ambiance. The waiters in the dining room were very helpful and pleasant. The wellness area was also good, one of the better onces that I have seen in the Alps.
The other GREAT feature is that you can store your skis and boots at the Riml Sport shop at the Giggijoch cable car and this is also the end of the town run. Very convenient, so you dont have schlep with your uncomfortable shoes all the way to the cable car.
So overall, decent hotel and fair price, just a pity for the small bathrooms and if you are one of the unlucky ones (like most people) to end up in Haus B.
