“Perfect holiday”
Reviewed 31 January 2013

Soll its self is one of the most beautiful places i've ever visited. The chalet is just out of town, which for us was fantastic as you are away from the hustle and bustle but not to far to join in. The chalet is traditional with large rooms and amazing views. Our meals where of such high quality i was amazed, never have i received such a great standard in a chalet before. The staff, Zoe,lee, tom, leo, lizzie and amie Where the perfect hosts, always there to help when you needed it. Rooms where cleaned daily. We enjoyed the bar in the evenings and socializing with other guests. Snow wasn't so great but the skiing was still fantastic. Thanks so much for an amazing week!!!!!

Stayed in the Sonnehof in Soll, on the 12th Jan 2013 for 1 week. It was my first time skiing and I loved the whole experience. The Crystal ski chalet staff were great. Zoe, One direction Tom, Leo and the chef Lee where fantastic and friendly. You had a warm room, hot water and good food and a great social atmosphere which made for a great stay. The skiing for myself, who was a beginner was a fantastic experience aswell. The ski school was enjoyable and it was a pleasure learning a new skill, thanks to Karsten who was a great teacher. Overall Soll was a beautiful place with great accomodation, good people, good social scene and perfect skiing.

Really great chalet, staff were very helpful and we had no complaints. The rooms were alway cleaned, food was well presented and very high quality. We had a great time with all the other guests. Had read the other reviews and clearly one person was not happy, perhaps they did not get on with the other guests. But the staff were always very friendly but very professional. Will book again for later this season in this resort, this chalet, can't wait to go back, well done crystal!

Room Tip: All rooms are similar ,some have a bath if that's what you like!

It's beyond belief how this place can seriously get good reviews! Some people's expectations must be so low! Sold as a catered chalet which is good with families.

We've stayed in many Crystal Ski holidays since I've been skiing for over 15 years, yet I've never been appalled like this.

On arrival, we were dropped off at the door and greeted to a full ashtray. Also, it was apparent that the toilets had not been cleaned as there was no paper towels in the dispenser, toilet roll all over the floor, and some poo floating in the toilet - not a great first impression. I was so horrified at this that I started to take photographs. We were let in by previous guests.

Not a great location. 10/15 minutes from town and 25-30 minutes walk from the lifts. Walking to the chalet is dangerous as they don't grit the roads and I literally fell on my bum slipping over (luckily no broken bones)

On arrival, our shower did not work properly and our wardrobe broke. Our room was nit serviced on the Tuesday (New Years Day) or Wednesday, which to be fair, is their day off. During this time, we had no toilet roll and no one was around to get us one. I ended up buying some from the supermarket.

On our first day, the bar didn't open until 6pm when it is stated that the bar is open from 4:30pm to 11:00pm. When we asked, they said that it was because they were expecting a large party of 17 later on and it was pointless as there weren't many guests, but we wanted to use the bar. On the second night, we were in the bar at 10:30 and the host said last orders and turned the TV off to indicate that we had to leave. I strongly believe the reason this happened was due to them wanting to go out in the town. On the last night, when we arrived back to the chalet after dinner, where the bar door was locked, yet obviously still in use from the noise that was coming from down there (there appeared to be a lock in for some guests) We were in room 101 and when we were lying in bed, we could hear the noise from down in the bar on the basement level.

Simple things missing, for example, no plates out for breakfast, so you get a bread roll, but you gave nothing to put it on. Breakfast was poor - cereal or yogurt, no hams or cheeses to have with your bread. There was also no toast because the toaster was broken, yet that evening we had pate with toast! To add insult to injury, on the last night, there was canopies served on toast and a starter of salmon mousse served on toast.

One morning, the breakfast room was a state. There were no table clothes out and there was dried broccoli on one of the salt pot, that we had to ask for. They had a boiled egg machine, but when I asked how to use it, they did not know.

One evening, when we were eating our puddings and one of us hasn't received our apple strudel, the hosts sat down with their dinner. Their plates were stacked high, over double the size of our portions, and ate. I've never been to a hotel/chalet where this has happened and I was quite frankly shocked.

During our whole stay, we were felt like inferior to a large party of mainly 20 to 25 year old girl guests, whom the chalet hosts had got to know. They also went drinking in the evenings with them and often we would be told that they were still drunk from the night before at breakfast. These guests would be running around shouting around the chalet and disturbed us, alongside another family staying at the chalet. On one occasion, at 3am on the 4th January, it was the dark haired male chalet host (I don't know his name as they didn't always wear their badges) who we could hear outside talking which disturbed my sleep. We did report that we were disturbed over breakfast, but nothing was done about it.

When the rep visited us during dinner on New Years Eve, we reported these issues to her and she seemed very defensive and gave excuses to the issues we highlighted. She also informed us that the hosts in all the resorts eat with the guests. She told us that they would start providing toast, which didn't happen but we did get eggy bread on a couple of occasions.

On the day we left, it was raining really heavily so we were stranded at the chalet because all the taxis were fully booked with transferred. Our transfer was not until 1:40pm and we were really hungry. We had to ask for some cups so we could have a tea or a coffee. For the whole 4 hours, not one if the hosts asked us if we were ok, they didn't even look at us in the eye. We were ignored the whole time and when a cake was placed on the table in reception, it was guarded by the chalet supervisor like she thought that our children were rude enough to dare take a slice.

Furthermore to this, it is sold as a 'best for families' chalet, yet it is apparent that the hosts don't actually like children and didn't care to know my daughters name and referred to her as 'the girl'.

Overall, I felt like we were intruding in the hosts home. I felt unwelcome and because of the concerns we raised and the attitude from the supervisor which followed: we were an inconvenience to them. If I was to brand this chalet, I would call it a budget hotel, but at £1,000 per person, is not at a budget price. I feel we did not get value for money.

Fantastic family holiday. Staff were very helpful, just ask and they always did there best to help.
rooms were some of the most spacious we had ever had, and we have had many ski holidays in the past. Crystal team were very helpful from the minute you arrive at the airport until you have left. Book everything through them as they do not charge any more and its great to get your ski pass on the bus on the way there. The food was excellent and they were always happy to help if you had a problem with something on the menu. The bar in the basement was great and very friendly to be with all the other guests if you did not want to venture down into the town.
would love to go back and have no hesitations. thank you

We have just returned from a trip to Soll and stayed at the Sonnenhof, this is a family owned Pension and is owned by the same person who owns Harry's in the centre of Soll ,it was a beautifley clean place for bed and breakfast, the owner and staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The place may be a bit traditional 1980 style Tyrolian type hotel but what's wrong with tradition and there are views to die for.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the rooms with the mountain views

We booked about six weeks in advance with Crystal and still got £228 off the book price. The chalet was run by four kids from the UK Jack, Kane, Charley, and Sean. They couldnt have done any more to make our stay brilliant. We needed one of the matresses changed after the first night and this was done without a hitch and they thanked us for bringing it to their attention. I'm sure we got more wine than we should've at dinner too, such was their brilliant hospitality. The team were really pleasant and friendly and we have decided to come back next year, partly because of the welcome you get at the Sonnenhof. It is a little way up a hill, but so what? If you are fit enough to ski, then you can manage the little walk. Some rooms have a bath (ours didn't) and a soak after a hard day on the slopes would've been really welcome. All in all highly recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath
