“Great Location - super Austrian feel”
Reviewed 28 December 2009

Went here with my girlfriend for a break over chritsmas and chose this place as it got some great reviews and was centrally located. Wasn't dissapointed at all!!

First of all the location is great. It is 30 seconds from the nearest supermarket and also opposite a cash machine, which is very handy. There are a number of different bars / restaurants / shops / pharmacy etc within a two minute walk. Most importantly the gondola and ski hire and ski school are within a 7 minute walk. You can store your skis if youhav yoru own at the hotel in the secure locker atthe bottom of the hotel.

When you walk into the hotel the decor is very traditional and over Christmas it had a real oldy worldy feel to it which was excellent. The staff are very welcoming and like the majority of european countries could all speak impeccable English. We had a great room on the third floor that overlooked a small courtyard at the front of the hotel and had a great view of the mountains and the dominating church in the centre of town - Lovely.

We stayed half board and the breakfast and evening meals were all well prepared. They catered for vegetarians as well. The food is of excellent standard and varied - also lots of it too.

I would definitley recommend this hotel to anyone. Probably mostly suited for families and couple getaways. It's a nice quiet hotel.

We stayed in two triple rooms on the 3rd floor - lovely view of the village from our balconies.

Rooms are kitted out in a rather trad style, but this is all part of the experience. And you cannot fault the cleanliness.

The hotel is located right off the town centre, but a 15 min walk to the gondola to Berg Soll for skiing. The walk is really very easy and pleasant, but only if you are not carrying heavy ski equipment. The hotel provides a great ski room facility with heated boot rails, and there is a free Skibus that plies the route to ski drop off points. If you really want to save yourself the effort, consider leaving your stuff at either the Stoll hire shop or basement of the gondola station - both provide excellent storage facilities. Also, weather bulletins are updated daily - you get a personal bulletin at breakfast, and the noticeboards are well-kept.

The service standard of this hotel is truly exceptional. We've never felt so obliged to heartily tip. If you are staying on a half-board basis - breakfast and dinner spreads are just wonderful and you are allocated a table for the duration of your stay. Breakfast is more than adequate, and you get a choice of 4 mains for dinner - which is a 5 course affair daily. I'm not a vegetarian, but noticed vegetarian options were offered - I dare say - every day.

The heated outdoor pool, sauna, steam room etc are not a brag, but excellent, well-maintained facilities. Pick up a robe and towel and off you go.

The bar can be both relaxing and lively, whichever way you like. Joseph runs it perfectly. Watch out for his tricks!!

We spent our Christmas at Postwirt, and what a memorable experience it was! With a traditional reception and carol singing, including a visit from Christkind - everyone got a present! Then on Christmas day itself, an impressive 7 course meal.

Our flight out was at an ungodly hour, and staff actually packed us off with lunchbags to make up for the missed breakfast. How do you like the sound of that?

Good quality hotel. Rooms are a little bit too small to accommodate 2 adults and a child, but still very adequate. The food is very good. The outdoor swimming pool is very pleasant. The only problem we found was the noise from the outside. The hotel is located right in the centre of the resort and very near to a night club. Therefore we were disturbed by very loud noises from the drunks all the night through and every single night. Apart from that the hotel is good. We like to have a good sleep after a day on the slopes, so it is unlikely that we stay at Postwirt again.

I just spent a weeks holiday in March. It was one of the best skiing holidays I ever had.
I've been already to many ski resorts in France, Switzerland.... and they never made us feel so welcome.
From the telephone conversations with the receptionists you were made to feel very welcome. All went so easy, never had a problem. They even book the taxi transfer for you.
As soon as you check-in, you feel like home.
The service-staff were very friendly. The food is just excellent. (not a good idea, if you are on a diet). It already starts in the morning with an extensive hot and cold breakfast buffet with on Sunday sparkling wine, salmon and croissants,... In the afternoon there is a ski snack at the bar, and in the evening you can choose out of 4 main courses with salads and startes from the buffet, soup, main, dessert and if you even can find a small space in your stomach you can finish off with the cheese board.
The best was the relaxing in the hot swimming pool gazing up to the stars after a hard day of skiing. And also don't forget the sauna and the steam-bath, amazing.
We booked a room with balcony, a large bright room. In all these rooms is a couch, that can be made up as a third bed.
And don't forget Seppi at the bar. He is always up for a good joke, and gives you great tips for skiing.
We've already booked for the summer. I can't wait.

Our second stay at the Postwirt Hotel. We were welcomed like old friends and looked after wonderfully for the whole week. All the staff are fantastic. The new resturant extension is delightful. A lovely week and we will be back!

I stayed in the Postwirt with a group of 21 friends while on a skiing holiday in Soll. We were quite a large group but the staff did a great job accommodating us all (especially the restaurant manager and the bar man Joseph!). All our bedrooms were close together and we had a separate room to ourselves off the dining room for breakfast and dinner.
The food was excellent and really gave you the energy needed for a days skiing. Most of the staff were pleasant but some were quite abrupt when translating what they want to say into English. There were many nice touches such as keeping a bottle of wine you did not finish until dinner the next night and the Gala Dinner was very impressive!
One of the major attractions of this hotel is the outdoor heated pool which is amazing. It is the perfect way to end your day with great views of the town and surrounding mountains. One of the only downsides of the hotel was the sauna and steam room. It is a custom in Austria to take off your clothes before entering but this is not true of where I come from. When we tried to enter wearing our swimming togs/shorts we were met with some very angry comments and were told to leave!

Overall I really enjoyed my stay and Soll is a great resort for an intermediate skier.
