Booked through Crystal we travelled with friends on the 5th July. As usual the welcome, food and hotel experience was excellent. Despite very mixed weather we walked , cycled and experienced the Tyrolean way of life. Walking and cycling with Steve was good fun despite getting soaked to the skin!!
After using the Funicular at Ellmau we walked to Soll via Scheffau which was a beautiful 14 mile walk in glorious sunshine. Would also recommend getting the Kaiser Jet bus to Scheffau then walking to and around Hintersteinersee Lake and onto to Soll. This is a great 12 mile walk through beautiful scenery.
The Tyrolean Evening at the Postwirt Hotel on a Thursday is also good fun.
Thanks to Steve and Rosi for their help and assistance when one of our party had an accident. Their help ensured the remainder of our holiday was not spoiled.
We would recommend the Gansleit as an excellent base for summer and winter holidays.

No need to repeat what other reviewers have said. They covered it all. This is an excellent hotel and well deserved of 5* in each category below. Many thanks to Steve for all his help and advise. I really enjoyed the guided tour to Going(well worth doing). Thanks to Hans and for his craic with us every night. When I go back to Soll this will definitely the hotel I'll stay in. By the way the food was great. We loved it all ( its great having made your choice in the morning waiting to see what it turns out like that evening) It was fantastic, salads are class as well!!
I would highly recommend the Gansleit. Tip: (if your reps.recommends a ski garage "near" the gondola, ignore them.....keep them at Steves, its much handier.)

We stayed in Hotel Gaensleit for one week in February booking through crystal ski from Dublin. We were welcomed by Steve with a welcome drink of snapps! The hotel is warm and welcoming, Breakfast and dinner are served in a very comfortable dining room on the ground floor. Smaller parties are asked to share a table with other guest through out your stay which was no problem. You get a chance to meet other guests and not all occasions will you be eating together as breakfast and dinner are served over a 2+ hour period. Breakfast offered a good selection of breads, cereals, meats cheese and hot bacon and eggs from the kitchen if you request. Dinner was three courses with two options nightly. We had no complaints with the range of dishes on offer, the main meals are not very large but when eating three courses every night with unlimited salad it is plenty.

There is a great boot room to store your ski boots which is very warms so your boots are warm and dry every morning. You can easily walk to the gondola from the hotel (5/10 mins in your ski boots, quicker in regular foot wear) cutting across the green area at the back of the hotel and coming home this can be skied as its on a slight slope! There is the option of the bus which stops directly out side the hotel.

Rooms are basic but comfortable and cosy. There was no bath in our room but a powerful hot shower. There is a small spa area which is free to use, it offers steam room, sauna, relaxation area and a Jacuzzi bath at an extra cost of 5 euro. I used this on two occasions during our stay, I would recommend making use of the Jacuzzi especially if you are sore are a days skiing. Spa rules state you can not wear a swim wear but must be naked, you can wear your robe and towel. This rule is enforced to our amazement. One afternoon we were told to take off our swim wear or leave. It was a little embarrassing but we had been told the rules so fairs fair!!

Steve the owner/manager takes guests on skiing trips and night skiing which is a fantastic plus to this hotel. There is no charge and from speaking to guests that had gone on day trips to going and Westendorf with Steve it was the highlight to their trip. The ski welt can be difficult to navigate so having a guide to take you this distance meant you could just enjoying the skiing without having to worry about getting lost.

We went night skiing with Steve and he was a fantastic teacher too, I am a beginner and I learnt more from Steve that evening than from ski school the full week. Thank you Steve!

This hotel offered great service, lots of extras and value for money. The location couldn't have been better with a five min walk to the centre of the town and 5 mins to the gondola!

Stayed here for a week in February, spotlessly clean hotel, nice food although portions size small sometimes, heated boot room very good and sauna and steam room an added bonus.for tired skiers, Breakfast good waitress delivers very nice tea however when i asked for a boiled egg she advised i had to go into the kitchen and order this myself which i found a bit strange !Location very good ski bus stop directly opposite hotel. Steve's night skiing an added bonus very nice guy. Nice bar area but closed way too early .Downsides - having to sit at the at the same table every night with other people - not great for a couple ! Check out is at 10am and they are very strict on this - we checked out at 10.05 am and cleaning ladies stormed into our room very angry we were still there. Although Steve and Rossi were very helpful during the week no thank you or good bye when we departed, sat in the lobby area on check out day and really felt like they didn't want us there. Would have to think about staying in this hotel again.

Stayed here for a week mid March. Nearly changed the destination due to snow fall but so glad I didn't.
On arrival, Steve welcomed us all with a shot of some kind of liqueur. He seemed really friendly and helpful. We were kind of glad we were in the main hotel part and not over the road but all in all it's a 5 second walk!

Rooms
The rooms were nice and clean which is what you want. We didn't have a kettle but this didnt't really bother us. It had an lcd tv though and the shower was brilliant. No issue with hot water either.

Food
For breakfast there were the usual cereals, yoghurts, bread, cold meats etc but you were welcome to go into the kitchen where they would cook bacon and eggs for you to your liking which was really good as always fresh.
We were four really fussy eaters and Steve had no problem with sorting tea out for us. The menu's were always varied and we did try a few things which were excellent but we had burger/omellette/fried egg and cheaps and even Heinz beans on toast!! We found this to be the best catering hotel we have ever been to for fussy eaters like us!

The hotel itself is really nice, the restaurant was very clean and had a nice Austrian feel to it, unlike some which are like a canteen. There was a table tennis table out the back which we used a few times as it was pretty hot. There is a gym, sauna and steam room which we didn't use but other's did most nights. The whole naked thing in the sauna kind of put me off but thats Austrian law not the hotels fault! The hotel's location is excellent too, the ski bus stops outside but it is walkable to the slopes but not really preferred with all your gear. The bus journey is literally 2 mins! Walking into town is again a 3 minute walk and there is a supermarket too to get all your chocolates/drinks from.

The ski area is huge and we didn't really explore it as we were with beginners but the slopes for beginners were not a problem either.

All in all, i'd definitely recommend this hotel and we will be returning next year.

Steve, Hans and the rest of the family will make you feel so welcome and will ensure you have a great stay,
