We've just had two weeks in the lovely town of Umag. We stayed in a three bedroomed apartment booked through [--] which is very well equipped, spacious and has satallite tv in all bedrooms and lounge. It has a marvellous view of the sea and the old town with its bell tower. We flew with ryanair into Trieste in Italy, hired a car and drove through Italy and Slovenia into Croatia, a lovely scenic drive. The alternative was to fly to Pula in Croatia but flights were more limited. The sun sets every evening across the sea in front of the apartment. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of local wine, which we bought from a vino at Petrovija, is absolutely wonderful. The colour across the sky has to be seen to be believed. The apartment is central and handy for all the restaurants, bars, market and shops. Around Umag it is comparatively flat and there are paths for cycling all along the coast, we hired bikes and did about 30 miles in the day riding leisurely through wooded areas and lovely coastal paths. We also drove and explored the Riviera of Umag which stretches from Savudrija with its oldest lighthouse on the Adriatic to Lovrecica, a lovely sleepy village and harbour. Further inland the old walled town of Buje is well worth a visit and a little further inland the town of Groznjan named the city of artists situated on top of a hill with commanding views of the countryside is certainly a must. There were so many lovely places it's impossible to mention them all. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at stylish Riva apartments in Umag.
