“Sharks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

As newly certified divers, myself and my two sons (17 and 12) shared the lifetime experience of a close encounter with a tiger shark.

The who crew looked after us with absolute professionalism. Thank you everyone!

“Good Diving with Jack's Diving Locker in Kona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

We went on a two tank boat trip with Jacks Diving Locker. The organization was perfect and efficient. The boat was nice, the dive briefing really good. The rental equipment was in very good shape. They even allowed to bring our daughter onto the boat for snorkeling. She could snorkel during the time we were diving and was supervised by a person on the boat. We had two dive groups with 5-6 people each and one dive guide per group. It seems that our group was a little bit unfortunate as we had a dive guide who was not a permanen/regular dive guide at Jack's. He struggled to navigate properly underwater and was not really inspired to point out marine life to the divers. The other dive guide even went with the snorkelers after the dive to show them turtles and a shark. All in all a nice trip with perfect service and snacks on the boat.

“Yes, yes, and more YES”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Great dives. Nothing else quite like the Manta Night Dive. 25+ mantas for 45 min. Surreal!!

Glad we chose this operation, we were one of the first boats on site and did an afternoon dive as the sun was setting to see the area, and check out some cool reef, garden eels and a few mantas free swimming. Came back up to watch the sunset and eat some dinner...and boy was I glad we got there early, by the time the sun was setting there was 19 boats on site!! They were tethering up all over the place, and some where a lot more on the periphery than others....we were right in the heart of the manta action.

Dive Master Keller was wonderful, great at naming the things I pointed out underwater (saw a lot of eel types I wasn't familiar with). Good leader, directed us to some cool sights. Again, no micromanaging but attentive and helpful...the perfect combo for a DM. Named the mantas for us when we came up, complete with plenty of manta trivia and corny jokes.

They just opened a new museum for Mantas in Kona too while we were there...check it out if you can, lots of great info.

Kona (heck the big island in general) all closes very early, only downside to night diving, there is not much open when you come up. Humpy's pizza/beer spot in Kona is right next to their shop though the pier is about 15 min away. But if you're starving that's a good option.

Would love to come back and do this dive again. Shop is great...well run efficient machine, friendly staff, and LOTS of gear.

“Excellent experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

I live in Maui & this was my 1st time to Kona & 1st time for manta snorkel trip. I researched a lot of companies beforehand & heard a lot of good things about Jack's. They completely lived up to & outdid themselves! Fantastic knowledgeable & entertaining crew who also very much cared about the ocean environment & creatures in it, as well as everyone's safety & well-being. Living here I've been out w/a lot of different boat companies & this one was by far one of the best I've experienced. There are so many people on the surface at the manta site, but our guide, Jeanne, maneuvered us through like a pro & it was an amazing experience. Their dive shop is fantastic as well - I needed a new mask, went in the next day & she even remembered mine & my friend's names. I'd go out with this company again & will be recommending them to anyone I know going to the Big Island.
