Owner description: Captain Zodiac has entertained guests for over 42 years on our exciting 24-foot Zodiac rafts. You will see the rugged coastline up close as you explore a sea cave and see exposed lava tubes, blowholes and archways. You will snorkel in the crystal clear waters of Kealakekua Bay Marine preserve viewing over 150 varieties of fish. You must keep a sharp eye out for pods of dolphins, whales and other marine mammals that come close to our rafts. The Zodiac ride is fast, fun and educational! You will hear about the Hawaiian history of the area, learn about marine life behaviors and learn the island’s geology.

We didn't know we were going to be on a powered raft for 3 hours for a short 1 hrs snorting. The raft was extremely uncomfortable. We have to hang on to our dear life the whole time. The snorting equipments were cheap and old, the water keep getting into our nose because it would not seal around our faces. So, find somebody else if you don't want my experience.

We just returned from a 7 day cruise around the Hawaiian islands and while in Kona we signed up for this excursion. We are a family of 4 (kids - 11 & 15) and all of us had a ball as did my 6 year old niece. The highlight for the kids was the boat ride - especially when our captain spotted the spinner dolphins. Our captain was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Yes it is a bit pricey but being able to snorkel in calm clear water away from the crowded beaches, getting an amazing view of the shoreline with an exhilarating boat ride makes it well worth it. Although I ditto the last comment - don't go if you have a bad back. It is a rough ride!

If you like wild rides you will love this one. Good snorkeling too. Do not do this one if you have a bad back... they are not exaggerating when they say this ride will be rough. A thrill ride for sure.

Many thanks to Captain Andy and first mate Caleb for a fantastic experience. The boat ride was brilliant fun, action aplenty bouncing around over the ocean. We were lucky enough to see a pod of pilot whales and we sat and watched them come within metres of the boat. They were so fearless and everyone could get amazing photos. Snorkelling was really great with very good visibility. Lunch was tasty too. On the way back we stopped and looked at the rock formations and lava tubes and learned some of the island's history. I think everyone on our boat enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

My wife and I booked this excursion whilst on a Pride of America cruise in May. We had a ball. We saw quite a few spinner dolphins in the Bay. Unfortunately while earnestly searching, we didn't see any whales. Wrong time of the year. Being Australian visiting the site where Captain Cook was killed was a treasured moment. The snorkeling was great fun in the crystal clear waters. An hour was perfect. Our Captain was very knowledgeable about the landscape and its history as we made our way back. A bit of scary fun was had when he had our zodiac on a collision course with a rock face while he was busy talking and not watching where we were going. If you go to Kona (which is now our destination when we return to the islands, beautiful place) do this excursion and you'll have great fun.
