Owner description: Kona Country Club has been designed by William Bell and sits along the Pacific Ocean with stunning mountain views. This beautiful golf course has breathtaking Kona coastline views, trails of ancient lava flow and is enriched with Hawaiian culture and wild life. This Big Island golf course can be enjoyed by both beginners and advanced golfers. Built in 1966, this William Bell designed course maintains its charm by incorporating natural settings along the Pacific Ocean. Be ready to take a picture on our signature holes #3 and #12. Enjoy seeing the grand splash on hole #13 where you will see the blow hole known as "puka" in Hawaiian. Keep a lookout for Humpback whales during November through March. Home of LPGA Takefuji Classic in 2000 and 2001, this 18 hole championship course offers wide, lush fairways, Bermuda grass greens and numerous sand bunkers.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Lockers / storage

Our family just ate at the Kona Country Club on Alii Drive which is open to the public. We normally eat there at least once per stay and enjoy the food. It is a good place for breakfast and has a nice view of Keahou bay. The price is reasonable and the service is good. I always recommend the French toast to all of our guests.

Had a tee time for the Ocean course for March 12th, and when I called to confirm, they had put us on the Mountain course because they closed the Ocean course Did not notify us of the change. Met another who had golfed there, and said it was very poorly run.

We played the Ocean course twice, the view is fantastic especially considering the price. I've play high priced a ocean view course in SoCal, and this beats it hands down for the course. The staff was pleasant. I do have to say the greens are the toughest I've played, good. Condition just challenging. The restaurant has an amazing view and the food is good.

My husband enjoys golfing here at least once each visit to the Big Island. Enjoys the coastal nine, but has played the mountain course.

We ended up playing 3 games at this course - two on the Ocean course and one on the Mountain Course. We got paired up all three times and had a great time. There is simply nothing wrong with this course at all, especially the ocean course. There is some beautiful views and it is in decent shape. We played the Mountain course once and found the back nine much more appealling..........the front nine proved more difficult as the lies etc., are brutal - it is at such a slant some times and becomes frustrating as your ball rolls, rolls and rolls to the opposite end of the fairway. In saying that there is some great views and great par 3s on this course.
So the golf was great but we found a few little challenges at the course........1. The restaurant does not serve food after 3 o'clock and closes at 6 o'clock - I don't know why they don't change that as there is so many people in the area that would this as a dinner option ??? They were a little weird in there also in the morning during breakfast time...there were tables open but would make poeple put there names down etc., and wait - they also had reserved signs on the breakfast tables. Kind of weird with that - Breakfast should simply be first come first serve ??? 2. We played there on the Monday and either they overbooked or were really unorganized - we were very late getting off of the first tee and as they were tons of people waiting but NO carts to give them ?? It was a gong show - they also have no marshalls on the course which can make it difficult also.
