“Excellent tour and presentation”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

We've been coming to Kona for many years and we finally took the grand Friday tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The volunteer staff is outstanding, the information they offered is incredible, the technology and work they are doing is totally outside the box. I highly recommend it, as it was time well spent and we will go back again someday for an update.

“Natural energy at work”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

This laboratory covers a lot of a lava field next to the airport. The industries here highlight the use of natural energy such as sunlight, cold water technology, and houses aquaculture of abalone, sea algae, solar energy, and has the only seahorse aquaculture farm in the world. Located right next to Kona Airport, take a day to look at the new technology of Hawaii.

“The place to visit if you want to see into the future”
Reviewed 7 June 2013

This is an outstanding facility. The amount of information provided is mind staggering and what they are researching is cutting edge. I was particularly interested in the deep sea water activities and the various enterprises they support. It is worth seeing. There are lectures on Tuesday's which are very informative

“Could be a great attraction but needs more work to be family friendly”
Reviewed 26 April 2013

We stopped by here and really wanted to see and understand how the energy lab worked. We investigated and there was a lecture in progress which would not have been suitable for our family.

We thought it would be good to at least see abalone but couldn't really work out where to go so we ended up giving it a miss.

Would be wonderful if an interactive display could be set up and maybe family friendly tours?
