This haven on the hillside is our go-to spot when we vacation in Kona. We love everything about it, from the location to the decor to the casual yet elegant atmosphere. Really, we couldn't ask for more. The one downside of this place is that we tend not to leave and go out to do other things -- just hang out in the outdoor hot tub, drink wine, and congratulate ourselves on our wonderful choice as we gaze out over the swimming pool to the endless ocean views...
We had a wonderful stay T this property surrounded by lush gardens with great ocean views. The bed was very comfortable the space clean and located close to everything. The mountain breeze in the evenings brought sweet smells of tropical flowers waiting through the rooms. Ken and Sandy were great hosts and we had no lack of fruit and privacy.
Maximum relaxation is why our family loves Hawaii so much. While staying at this lovely property, we would spend a good portion of the morning on the lanai; Kona coffee, fresh pineapple, mangoes and bagels, good conversation, all with a terrific view of the Pacific Ocean, before heading out for the day's activities.
My family, including 9 and 12yo kids, was here in February, 2017. This property is truly a perfect, easy mix of proximity to Big Island activities/needs (e.g., beaches, whale watching, snorkeling, grocery stores, etc.) and retreat (e.g., family time in the pool, making dinner (the outdoor kitchen was a really pleasant surprise, as it allowed everyone to be together while the cooks prepared meals), playing board or yard games, gecko spotting in the spacious yard, etc.). The property is close to amazing beaches (10-30 minutes by car, depending on location), but as amazing and fun as the beaches are, they can be busy, crowded and hot -- Sandra's property provides the perfect reprieve! Some of you may be wondering what it is like to stay at a property where the owners also reside. Let me assure you the arrangement is not a problem (and, really, is a great benefit). Sandra did an outstanding job of providing the various items and amenities needed to spend a day at the beach (e.g., boogie boards, cooler, frozen ice packs, beach chairs, beach toys for the kids), to prepare a meal (e.g., pots/pans/glasses/utensils), and have fun in the pool (e.g., floaties, dive toys, etc.). However, if, on the rare occasion, we had a question, Sandra was available and accommodating. The kids loved the pool and hot tub, and it was great having onsite laundry (in fact, we forgot our suits in the dryer on the day we flew out--oops--and Sandra texted us to let us know that she found them and would mail them to us). The access to fresh avocados was awesome, too. Very close to the airport too, which allowed us to squeeze in a bit of pool time the morning of our last day. Highly recommend!
Beautiful location, beautiful home. Four adults stayed here for 10 days. We had plenty of room for all of us. We loved having the availability of the kitchen for breakfast. We picked fresh fruit daily from the trees. Sandra is very welcoming and is available for any questions or concerns you may have. We will be back!
