Description: Guests of the Island Breeze Luau will be amazed with a display of authentic Polynesian activities, cuisine, and performances. Island Breeze Luau, located in right on the edge of the ocean of the King Kamehameha Hotel is rated the best lu'au on the Big Island by kama'aina (local residents)visitors and travel writers. The luau begins with a lei greeting and picture taking. An open bar, arts and crafts await you. The imu (traditional underground oven) ceremony, is also a part of the exciting beginning to your Island Breeze ohana (family). There are many ways to participate in the luau activities: weave a coconut frond, learn how to open a coconut, learn the art of hula, get a Polynesian tattoo, and take the time to meet and talk to some of the performers.

Before I actually went to this, I thought that Luau was all about the food. I was so wrong. Food is a part of it but there is so much more to it than just food. Honestly, the food was okay but this might be just my taste and not being used to local foods like poke and poi or the kahlua pig. But there is so much variety that you will definitely find a lot of food that you like :)
The best part of this was the show! What a magnificent show and performance. The emcee was phenomenal. He brought out so much happiness and love in everyone and the atmosphere there could not be described in words. There is no way you can leave a Luau without feeling like the most loved person on the planet. :)

The luau was educational, entertaining and had a lot of humor. It is definitely a family affair. The food was abundant but just okay. The upgrade is touted as something you should do in order to have the best seats and first in buffet line. However, every seat is a good seat and so the $40.00 is really wasted money as the buffet line is very quick and anywhere you sit is a good seat. I was impressed with the entertainment energy and quality of music.

My first experience with a luau and it was very entertaining. Would recommend doing the preferred seating, you get better seats and do not have to wait in the long line. The food was very good and more than enough to eat. Open bar was okay, but didn't expect anything grand either.

So much to see and do! Food was great! Show was top notch. Seating forces us to converse with each other, but that's the aloha spirit!
Definitely find time for this awesome fun, educational and delicious treat! Thank you!

We were very disappointed in both the service and the food. I purchased the luau as a 50th and 56th birthday presents for friends. I spent the extra $19 per person for premium seating etc. We were greeted and sat by Mike the maître d'. So he started off gruff but friendly which quickly went downhill. His demeanor change and was very unpleasant bordering on rude and definitely unprofessional. For the 4 of us we spent almost $400. We certainly didn't expect that kind of treatment. Unfortunately it just sucked all the fun and excited mood out of our entire group. As much as we tried to let it go, it had already changed the evening for the worse. Shortly after, it started to sprinkle and they moved the whole luau inside. So after another 30-45min of waiting for the move, the food was cold and not good at all. The show was good and the performing group was the only thing that saved the evening. If it wasn't for the show it would have been no stars. I would not recommend nor would I go to this one again.
