Signature dishes include Tomato Gazpacho with Avocado Cream; the “Kanak Attack Pizza”; and the Beach House Burger. The culinary philosophy is to start with ingredients from the island, and then beyond – ensuring incorporation of the freshest, most sustainable ingredients available. We recently had lunch and dinner at the Beach House and it was a treat for all of our senses.
The setting is truly beautiful; on the beach in close proximity to the ocean. It is relaxed and casual and the well planned menu contributes to this ambience. You are having lunch or dinner on the beach at comfortable tables with excellently prepared food.
The service is attentive but not obtrusive. You do not feel rushed. This gives you time to absorb and appreciate the beauty of the setting. It gives you the opportunity to truly be "in the moment".
The rest of the world seems far away.
All things considered an excellent experience.

Drinks were great, appetizers yummy, sandwiches delicious, but the view of the beach and the ocean was outstanding. Almost stayed until dinner.

This was truly an experience. We enjoyed the more casual aspect as compared to other Hualalai offerings. You cannot beach the right on the beach setting. The service was impeccable. The food was fantastic.

I just asked my wife to summarize our visit to the Beach House and the above title is her words. We had ended 5 days in Hilo and had driven over along the Belt Road (Hwy 19 - what a great drive) with the idea of stopping at the Four Seasons for lunch before settling in for 4 days at our rental in Kailua-Kona. The Beach House doesn't take reservations and we were nervous about getting a table but we needn't have worried. The place was almost empty at around 12.30 on a Tuesday. It got busier later but was never more than a third full.
The Four Seasons is enormous and, after a longish drive in from the entrance gates, we arrived at the hotel to have our car whisked away by one of the hordes of valet parkers. The walk down to the beach was longer than expected but the gardens are beautiful. I can understand why residents and guests drive around in golf carts.
The Beach House setting is perfect. Right on the sand and next to a grassed area with a large pond. The welcome was very friendly and we were seated by our waitress, Chelsye, at a table right next to the sand. Thank goodness for the umbrella and the stiff breeze - it was another hot day but we were very comfortable in the shade. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed but with an upmarket tinge.
We started with an excellent and extremely full martini for me and, with some encouragement, she opted for the "Big Daddy" version of a margarita. We both laughed out loud when it arrived. It was, virtually, a vase of margarita. For appetizers, we shared the half-pound of beer shrimp - 12 perfectly cooked prawns with two dipping sauces. By that time, our bottle of Cakebread chardonnay had arrived and went very well with the prawns and our two mains - crab cake salads. We seem to have eaten quite a few crab cakes over the past week. All of the food was perfect and we lingered for quite some time over the salads, interspersed with regular visits from the charming Chelsye to check on us, pour more wine or for a conversation. This was a wonderful start to our Kona visit and we are looking forward even more now to our dinner at Ulu in a few days.

I liked this better than the other hotel restaurants because it was smaller and they had better service and higher food quality.
