Owner description: Voted the Best of West Hawaii since 2000 , the Island Breeze Lu'au and is located on the shores of Kamakahonu Bay and the historic grounds of the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. An evening filled with delicious food and authentic Island entertainment. Highlights include the re-enactment of the arrival of Kamehameha I aboard an outrigger canoe, the unearthing of the imu (underground oven), preliminary arts and crafts where you have a chance to meet the performers, a 22-dish buffet, an open bar and the finale of the Siva Afi - spectacular Samoan Fireknife dance.

This luau had a positive family atmosphere that you don't find much anymore. Activities for the kids prior to dinner (great photo ops) wonderful historical demonstrations in presenting the start of the meal and the entertainment was beautifully choreographed and had a nice mix of performance with audience participation. We did not have upgrades and felt our seats were still excellent. Everyone loved it! It was an unexpected treat to have the dancers available for pictures as the show ended - really thought that was special.
P.S. we did not stay at this hotel but enjoyed seeing their beautiful grounds and facility.

This luau had good food, a good show including an outrigger that delivered the "kings and court" to the luau grounds. Typical luau food with pork, turkey, various salads (leaf and other chilled), etc. The guests seemed to be entertained by the luau lessons given by the staff. There was good coordination once we were inside the grounds. However, there was an issue with online scheduling as those (including us) who purchased tickets online were instructed to check in at 4:30. When we got there, it was simply a waiting game as we found out that the correct time to check in was 5:00 but no one bothered to correct the specifics in the booking process. Further to that, all those with the 'preferred seating option' were processed before any of the regular seating customers so most of us waited even longer. What would have made more sense is to have the 'preferred seating' group check-in at 4:30 with all others checking in a little later. In all, I'd recommend this luau, but I wouldn't say it's been the best one I've been to. The actual luau grounds location is not the best as you're on the bay of the King Kamehameha hotel (Marriott) with unattractive boat docks in view, although the grounds themselves were very nicely maintained/decorated. We still had an enjoyable time and the price was reasonable for what we received.

I was there with my 10yo grandson and we had priority seating, which is definitely worth it because there were about 300 people at the luau and we got seats right next to the stage. There was some confusion about how to exchange a paper reservation for a voucher...the luau desk wasn't easy to find from where we entered the building, and no signs to show the way. The food was lovely. Priority people got drinks delivered to their tables and people came around to give you henna tattoos, which my grandson loved. They also had a hula class and a lesson in how to make a fish from a banana leaf. The show was really good and was just the right length.
