“nice apartments but the take is below the surface at the beach”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Stayed here a week with my Family. The apartmens was great (although also rather expensive) for a family of 5. There is a fully eqipped kitchen and we enjoyed several of our meals "at home" at the balcony where we could also enjoy the sunset over the ocean.

The place is really quiet. About 3 kilometers from Kona. There is no reception so if you need assistance you'll have to call a service number. But if you don't mind using the same towels and bedding for a week (or use the washer and dryer) that wouln't be a problem. It's a bit odd when you have find the key in a key-box outside the apartment but everything worked fine. The pool was very nice too.

But the reason we picked this place was because of the proximity to the Keahaluu Beach park. On of the easiest accessable snorkel spots at the Big Island. You walk 50 meters from the Apartments and then you in the Water with beatifull fish, corals and sea turtles (Watch out that you don't step on them in the waterline. Beware though that ít's not a good Beach for sun bathring. Mostly vulcano rocks.

We stayed in building 1 condo 203. We spent more time on the Lanai than we did on the inside sofa. Plenty of room in each of the three bedrooms. One of the best equipped kitchens I have ever had in a condo. Supermarket / drugstore is only a five minute drive away. There is also a cinema compex and subway restaurant. We loved being directly across the road from Kahaluu beach park. We hired equipment from Snorkel Bobs which is a 10 minute drive up the road. Snorkelled every day across the road.It is a relatively easy access into the water with abundant fish. Look out for Rocky the resident turtle who loves to sun himself on the rocks. I can't wait to come back here.

Room Tip: Best option for families

Excellent location right across the street from a snorkeling beach. Condos are extraordinarily well equipped with everything you could need. We were in the front building and could sit out on the lanai to watch the sunset.
This was our third stay at this condo complex and we plan on coming back.

The location was ideal: south of the traffic and hassles of Kona, but within trivial reach of both Kona and points south. Directly across the street from the best protected snorkeling on the big island; my wife snorkeled at least once every day. You can rent snorkel gear from a non-profit on the beach, and as a bonus there is a food and shave ice truck there every day.

There is a very nice little pool and hot tub directly below the condo. Except for the expected kids-playing-in-the-afternoons it was quite quiet. There is some road noise from the road between the condos and the beach, but it is minimal and was never an issue for us.

The thing that most struck us, though, was how well-equipped the condo was. From a coffee grinder to snorkel gear, every time we needed something it was already there. When we left we donated a mask+snorkel and some never-used beach sandals as our contribution.

I do recommend paying for the air conditioning. Even in the last 2 weeks of March we used it almost every night for sleeping, and often in the afternoons.

We will rent this condo again in a heartbeat if we return to the big island. (This is a repost of a review I put on FlipKey, so if you're googling you may see it twice. Not a shill, just a very satisfied customer.)

Room Tip: Building 1 does front on the road, but I don't think the other buildings would be significantly...

This was an amazing location and the Condo was everything and more than we expected. It was fully stocked and the view from the lanai was beautiful. The beach across the street was one of the best snorkeling beaches and the pool in the complex was great. We had a terrific time on the Big Island and looked forward to coming back to the Condo every night to sit on the lanai and play cards. We will definetly be back and will one stay at the Condo as everything was perfect..
The sunset from the lanai was super.

Unit 2-302 would rent this unit again. very clean, new uptodate furniture, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. across from a great snorkle beach as promised. Great location, free wifi, nice pool and view is amazing. Need a car as its a long walk to the town of Kailua Kona. Shopping and grocery nearby. spent a lot of our time on the large covered lanai with doors opening from master bedroom and kitchen.

Room Tip: 2-302 is great

We stayed in Unit 1-202 and we really enjoyed staying here. The view and the location were great. The beach is great for snorkeling and also for surfing. My son was able to take surfing lessons right across the street at the beach. I wasn't feeling well, so I spent a lot of my time sitting on the lanai or at the pool, and it was so nice to be able to watch the surfers and snorkelers and just watch the waves.
The condo was nicely decorated and very comfortable, except for the sleeper sofa, which really needs a new mattress. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was beach and snorkeling gear available.
My only issue is the way the price increases with adders. One rate is advertised, but then there's an adder for air conditioning and cleaning (the cleaning adder is standard in Hawaii apparently). We were there in January and really didn't need the air conditioning if we could leave the lanai doors open and get a breeze. The owner asks you to leave the doors shut to keep critters out, but then there are no screens. So, I recommend taking the air conditioning regardless of the time of year. This should not stop anyone from renting this unit - it's a really great place to stay.

Room Tip: I don't know anything about the other villas. I think this one was excellent.
