We spent a week of our vacation at this resort in April 2013. It was amazing. The unit was newly renovated and beautifully furnished. From our lanai we could see the golf course and the ocean. The beds were especially comfortable. The grounds were nothing shy of spectacular. The gardens and fountains were so tropical and beautiful. The staff couldn't possibly have done anything more to make our stay enjoyable. They provide beach chairs, umbrellas and other items to make a trip to the beach very pleasant. It is a short drive to all the sites and sounds of Kona and the beaches.

Our unit was a two story 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath. Bedrooms each had private bath and were located in the downstairs portion of the unit. Upstairs was the kitchen (very well stocked), living, dining room and another 1/2 bath. There were sliding glass doors off both floors. We are really enjoying being Wyndham owners and look forward to our return to Kona and Mauna Loa Village Resort in the near future.

Room Tip: Request a newly renovated unit with view of golf course and/or ocean.

The excellent location at the south end of Kona is off the beaten track enough to be quiet. This was an upside down unit with the bedrooms and baths downstairs and the living area upstairs. This kept the bedrooms cooler for sleeping at night. The condo appeared to have been recently updated. The master bath had double sinks and a very large counter space. The kitchen was well-stocked with assorted dishes and cooking supplies.
We had a peek-a-boo view of the water.
Our greeter/keeper of the parking passes insisted that there would be no hard-sell at the orientation but he was SO pushy and hard-sell that we skipped it.

We enjoyed our first extended trip to the Big Island of Hawaii in celebration of a 50th birthday. We spent a week in the Wyndham Mauna Loa Village condos. The grounds were beautiful and excellently taken care of throughout the stay. The location of the condos was just a little off the beaten path. This made for a 6 or 7 minute drive to the downtown district, but the quiet and beauty more than made up for this small inconvenience. The staff at the condo were extrememly friendly, informative and very helpful. The condo was just a little outdated, but very well taken care of. We were in a two bedroom unit with a wonderful floor plan. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well outfitted with everything that we needed for the weeklong stay. The added bonus of the washing machine and dryer was very useful. On the return trip I will not pack near as much as I did this time. They even included 2 packets of laundry detergent to make it just that much easier. The air conditioning kept the unit cool and comfortable for the entire trip. Didn't turn on the TV during the visit so I am not quite sure how to rate that feature. The main disappointment during our stay is the fact that we had to pay for wi-fi. So unfortunately, or maybe not, we spent the week disconnected. We had a swimming pool just outside of our balcony, but it was very quiet all the same. The pool didn't see much traffic so most of the time it felt like our own private space. The pool area was well taken care of as well. We could see maintenance being done every morning from our patio. The parking area is just a little removed from the very first pod of condos, but the exercise was a pleasure due to the location. Would I stay at this location again? Absolutely, we were planning a return trip before we left the island. Enjoy your stay!

We enjoyed our first trip to the Big Island, so we were out exploring a lot. Normally, when we escape the cold and wet Oregon weather, we like to stay at a resort and soak up the sunshine. This resort isn't really set up for that. The pools are small and there's no restaurant on site.
Rooms are clean, well-maintained, and roomy, with the exception of the kitchen. Flat screen tv in living room and an older style in the bedroom.
Response to requests was fast. Cindy at the front desk was great!
Most of the rooms have a view of the gardens around and some have a pool view. Please note that this property does not have an ocean view and you either have to walk or drive to get to the ocean.
Everyone parks in a central underground parking area, and I personally, did not think the distance from it to the rooms was that bad.
We were asked, at check-in about the time share presentation, once on the phone, and one last time via a flyer inserted in our door. After that nothing!
We were glad that the couple upstairs did not have children, as we could hear when they got up and walked around, opened and closed doors, turned the bathroom fan on, and had the tv on.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room

This property is the best out of all of my 3 visits to Kona. The property was in a quiet location, close to the water.
The staff was fabulous. They were fun, friendly, helpful.
We had a 2 bedroom and it was clean, upgraded, and comfortable with a great patio that overlooked the golf course and a slight view of the ocean.
I would book this condo again in a heartbeat!
The only thing that would have made the place perfect is if they had ceiling fans in the bedrooms. If they did, you would not have to run the AC at night

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room away from the main road.

The Good: Stayed in an updated condo with new, fresh and clean furniture with flatscreens in both living and bedroom. (Not that we went to Hawaii to watch tv but nice when March Madness began.) Kitchen had all that we needed to prepare meals, washer and dryer in the condo, air conditioning and **second floor rooms available. Finally, the concierge went out of their way to point out where we should go and when. That was truly priceless to us.

The Bad: **You must get a room on the second floor because the floor between rooms was so paper thin, you could not help but thump thump every step. We just cringed at the thought of someone under us. All the furniture was hard and uncomfortable - looked nice ... Kitchen was so small only one person at a time could be in there. Don't do your laundry while hanging out in the room, the washer and dryer precluded anyone from visiting they were so loud. Could not get the air conditioners to work properly and you had to walk through the bedroom to get to your balcony.

The Ugly: Yes, there are 8 pools -- very small pools. For those of you with children, GREAT! For those of you who do not want to swim with the kids from ages 1 to 17, bad news. No adult areas were designated - there was not a single day that we could find a pool without kids ... and we went looking. Not that it was the resorts fault that kids were swimming in their UNDERWEAR - Really ? They even had to close down a pool for reasons left to your own imagination.

Room Tip: Remember, second floor only ... There are a few rooms facing the street and parking areas.. the reso...
