“Nice little homely place to relax”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

It's a comfortable place like Home Away from Home. Loved the place and the adjoining Salmon Bake Restaurant. Close to supermarket and activity hub. Nice big rooms with a view and a cosy lobby was my favourite during our stay.

Good location for hiking up to Exit Glacier and Harding Icefield. We didn't like Seward that much and therefore were happy staying out of town but it's less than 10 mins by car. It's actually a modern build but has been constructed very nicely in a early 1900's style. The staff treat you like family and you come back to free tea and coffee with homemade cookies. Ties you over til dinner later. Next to Salmon Bake restaurant which is outstanding. You get a credit towards breakfast, think it was $7. Would stay again no bother.

We stayed two nights. This lodge did not have the scenery that we had at other places, but we enjoyed the homey feeling of this lodge. Having the restaurant next door, being able to use our breakfast voucher and choosing our breakfast off a menu was nice. Other motels had the usual breakfast buffet. We also had a great dinner one evening in the restaurant. Also the staff was very pleasant and the warm cookies were a nice touch.

We stayed in the upstairs studio apartment in the building around back. It was me, my husband and mother-in-law and this was a perfect set up. Having a washer and dryer was fantastic and they offered (and we accepted) laundry detergent for use. It had a kitchenette that we did not really use but is a great amenity. The bathroom door did not shut at all, so we had to place towels behind it to shut it and have privacy. (easy face plate fix)

A car is necessary when staying here. BUT a car is necessary to really explore the area anyways.

We really wrestled with where to stay in the Seward area. We were thinking Seward Windsong Lodge (which is located very close to Exit Glacier Lodge - closer than we realized when we were looking online vs. being there). However, there were many not so good reviews of Windsong both here and on Cruise Critic. So we chose Exit Glacier Lodge and boy were we glad we did. The Salmon Bake Restaurant is right on site (right next door). We ate both dinner and a very early breakfast (6 am) here. We were leaving for the Kenai Fjords National Park Boat Tour the next morning and needed everything close and easy. The rooms at Exit Glacier are clean and functional. Certainly not luxurious but it worked. The location was excellent and the lobby was beautiful. We were happy with our choice of Exit Glacier Lodge. The people were truly welcoming. We enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: We chose a room on the 1st floor just because we didn't want to hump luggage up the stairs. The...

STayed in a cabin at Exit Glacier Lodge. For $100/night, you cant beat the price for a clean but rustic and simple cabing. Excellent loaction just north of Seward and down the road from the Exit Glacier Nation Park. We did not stay in the lodge but rather in the cabins where breakfast is not included. Apparently breakfast is included if you saty in the Lodge itself. Overall great value

This review is for the studio apartment my husband and I stayed in for 5 nights (I have no idea how the actual lodge is). We liked that the apartment came with a washer and dryer (so useful after a day of fishing....) and kitchenette. I didn't like the fact that there was no air conditioner, but there aren't any in most of Seward's lodging, so I can't fault this place for that. We were able to get fresh air circulated only by opening the two windows. They did provide a fan in the room. The bathroom door did not shut at all, so we had to place towels behind it to shut it and have privacy. The $7 breakfast vouchers were great and made our breakfasts affordable. The shower head would not face forward and stayed turned toward the shower curtain, making it difficult to shower comfortably. Housekeeping was prompt, cleaned our room well each day, and left us plenty of towels and washcloths. Very close to Seward (5 minutes down the road).
