Owner description: Fishing charter out of Seward
Reviewed 14 July 2013

My partner and I went out for two days with Captain Steve and Big Tuna. We had a wonderful experience. This was our first time fishing in Alaska and they were both very helpful in helping us land the fish. Women typically don't have the upper body strength for this! On the second day we were fishing off of Montague Island and we hauled in a "shooter" - the halibut was so big Captain Steve shot it with a .410 shotgun! I thought this was the stuff of folklore but it happened right before our eyes! It was surreal. The halibut weighed in at 137lbs and yielded 72lbs of filets. We also caught ling cod, yellow eye rockfish (pretty orange) and a silver salmon. Add this to sunny weather, calm seas, and viewing a pod of humpback whales and it was truly a trip we will never forget. Between the two of us over the two days we brought back 238lbs of fish - needless to say we promptly bought a freezer when we got back to Anchorage! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go out again with Pro-Fish-n-Sea. If you want to come back to the dock in Seward with the big fish and have your photo taken - book with them! (We noticed other charters coming back with smaller fish!)

Our group of six booked a halibut trip on the Interceptor, the newer six-pack boat with Profish-n-Sea. Everything was very organized and efficient. We checked in at the office the evening before our trip and got our fishing licenses and derby tickets and last minute details for the trip the next day. After a brief safety talk the next morning, we were off to the fishing grounds. Kevin proved to be a very likeable guy and was very patient with everyone. He did everything possible to help us catch fish, which we did. The bite was somewhat slow when the current slowed down about midday and Kevin gave us the option to move somewhere else and probably catch smaller fish or stay where we were, hoping for better quality fish. We opted to stay and were glad we did. Our smallest fish weighed between 25 to 30 pounds. Kevin was very passionate about fishing and got really excited whenever there was a big fish biting. We had a great experience with Profish-n-Sea in beautiful surroundings with a great captain and brought home plenty of fish fillets. We would definitely use Profish-n-Sea Charters again

We booked a trip with ProFish for a 1/2 day salmon trip. This company is very organized and professional. We were very pleased with our whole experience. We met at their office by the docks in Seward at the time specified and the captain of our boat was ready for us and off we went. We had Willie for our captain and he was great. There were 5 of us on the boat and there was plenty of room for all of us to fish as much or as little as we wanted. Willie went whereever he needed to put us on to the salmon and kept in contact with the other captains to find out where the fish were biting. He was always there before you could even ask to untangle a line or get new bait for us. After the fishing, he cleaned and fileted our salmon. We ended up having it frozen and sent to our home by Captain Jack's Seafood Locker. Overall a great day and one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska.

Six of us rented a half day salmon excursion. The boat was wonderful as we were all able to sit inside out of cold. It took about 45 minutes to get to where we would fish. It was not more than 30 seconds putting our rod in that we started to catch fish. We caught so much fish that we had to go back in early. You can only catch six fish per person. Captain Woody was wonderful and was busy helping us tack and reel in fish. When we got back in, Captain Woody hung all of our fish for pictures. The fish was filleted and we only sent 55 pounds home. It was about 400 to do so. The remainder of fish, another 40 pounds we left for the captain This was definitely the highlight of our time in Alaska. I would definitely do this again with pro-fish!!!

We had only i day to fish is in Seward and we choose a different charter company. They ended up canceling on us due to weather conditions.. I understand that part of fishing..but it was the way we were told(we arn't going..click) and what happened next that shows good customer service and bad customer service. I called Steve at ProFish and told him our situation..he said he would see if he could find us a boat going out.. My husband and me decided to show up at ProFish office to see if they found us something.. Steve did not know who we were...and as we walked in he was on phone call after phone call trying to find us a slot. I was in shock that a charter operator would go to those lengths for someone who was not his customer..WOW
We did not end up fishing this trip but TRUST ME,, ProFish has us as a customer on our next trip..
Do not use Aurora Charters
