This was hands down one of the best vacations...ever. Heather (the owner) has connections ALL OVER TOWN...you can do just about everything in Seward at a discounted rate thanks to her.
Her Inn and cabins are awesome with each cabin having a different Alaskan rustic theme. The bedrooms in the house also have heir own decor.
She gave us so many great tips for the town and everyone knows her- so we felt like family no matter where we visited in Seward.
We are already planning on another trip next year. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Nauti Otter!

The price was hard to beat. All we really eneded was a place to stay for the night. But it was a bit surprising how much mold was all over the inside of our little cabin. It had been cleaned, and there was a glade plug-in that was pumping out a TON of perfume. But when we unplugged the air freshener to stop the intense perfume smell, it became very clear that it was in place to stop the guests from smelling the mildew. We slept in our sleeping bags, as everything in the room felt damp. Granted, it had been raining a lot recently. But we didn't want to risk it with how bad it smelled.

I and my girlfriend had the opportunity to stay at Nauti Otter for two awesome weeks, and it was definitely a big highlight of our Alaska trip! Heather is super welcoming, and all the staff is very friendly and good fun family vibes are all around when you enter this amazing hostel. You can choose from different cabins, rooms and also dorm beds, everything nice and clean and cozy. We were feeling like home and we miss this place so much! And you can make yourself pancakes or waffles etc. for breakfast which is great! Heather and others will be happy to help you with all you adventures, give you advices and even get you discounts for various activities! And there is really a lots of thing to do :). We enjoyed our time in Nauti Otter very much and definitely would like to stay here again!

My wife & I spent a couple of days (8/12 - 8/13) in Seward and couldn't have been happier that we chose The Nauti Otter Inn. This place is flat out cool. What makes it cool is that Heather the owner really made this a one of a kind hostel & hotel.

The decor is so funky that you can't help but smile when you see it.

Heather is also so welcoming and is willing to do anything to make sure that you have a good time while in Seward.

Although I would advise that you rent a car while in Seward for the convenience of it, there are still ways to get into town from the Inn. Other guests always seem to offer when they are going into town and even Heather would give you a lift if she were available at the time.

Overall I found the property to be flat out fun and welcoming. Just know two things before you book, 1) The Nauti Otter is NOT in town, 2) There are only two shared bathrooms, one inside, one outside. Both bathrooms work totally fine though.

I highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: I always recommend a single room over a shared.

My sister and I stayed for two nights at the Nauti Otter. It's a funky and charming property just outside of Seward. We opted to stay in one of the unique lodging options, a vintage camper trailer called the Lumberjack Shack. The Lumberjack Shack was roomy enough for two people to sleep comfortably and had outlets for charging electronic devices, which was nice. Each of the standalone lodging options has its own parking space.

Nauti Otter provides guests with linens, towels, wifi, two kitchens, two bathrooms with showers, a common room with an adorable cat named Bucky, complimentary breakfast ingredients, and lots of information about things to do in Seward. Heather, the proprietor, and her friend, were very friendly and when we accidentally left behind a souvenir in the Lumberjack Shack, they let us know and mailed it back to us. Nauti Otter is a great budget lodging option for travelers to Seward and we'd definitely return for another stay.

Room Tip: If you want quieter lodging, opt for the standalone options instead of a room in the house.
