“Clean & Comfortable`”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Best Western in Seward is a clean, comfortable hotel near the water's edge a block from the Alaskan Sea Life Center. Great location near a FREE shuttle bus that picks up in front of the Sea Life Center, also the BW offers a free shuttle until 6:00 each day. They shuttled us to the cruise dock in the afternoon after storing our luggage for the morning hours. Rooms are spacious with a frig, microwave, coffee maker and sink separate from the shower. (Love that) Breakfast was good with lots of variety like breads, danishes, dry cereal, fruits, juices, sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy. (eggs not so good though) Stayed 2 nights before the cruise and was walking distance to great downtown restaurants, Sea Life Center, the Exit Glacier Shuttle Service and the Downtown Kayak Adventures Worldwide. (All worthwhile things to do in Seward) Enjoy!

Room Tip: Inside rooms with no windows are a great deal plus with sunlight all night long the rooms were nice...

This appears to either be either a relatively new or very well maintained hotel. It is in a great location - near the water and Sea Live Center in Seward. I am not easily pleased when it comes to the cleanliness of hotel rooms, but I was pretty comfortable here. I didn't love the layout of the room with the bathroom sink directly inside the door. Queen beds would have been nice, instead of double. Our kids are 9 and 11, and sharing a double bed with one of them is a little cramped. Our room was advertised as having a balcony that overlooked the hotel lobby, but the balcony was barely big enough for two people to stand on, so it was pointless. A pool or fitness room would have been nice, but as I told my kids, most people don't go to Alaska to swim. It was cold and rainy while we were there, so that limited our ability to enjoy outdoor activities. With cold and rainy being common summer weather in the area, some indoor amenities would have been nice, especially for the price we were paying. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was adequate. The price is steep, but comparable to other hotels in the area. Summer travel in Alaska is just expensive. I appreciated that for my money I at least got a clean room and a decent breakfast.

This hotel is convent to shops and restaurants in Seward, has a shuttle, free breakfast, and a convenient laundry room. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Free wireless service provided. Breakfast included breads, eggs, sausage, milks, coffee, cereals, yogurt, etc and was tasty! The room we were in was a little tight with only a desk chair other than the beds. The lobby is large and has comfortable sofas and chairs for reading. One thing I really liked is that the hotel is quiet - no music or televisions going on the lobby!! I would rate this hotel as 3 1/2 -4 stars.

We originally booked the Holiday Inn Express based on Trip Advisor reviews. However, we arrived in Seward and realized there are actually TWO downtowns here. One near the busy cruise ship and cheap t-shirt shop area, the other more historic district a mile away. We quickly changed our reservation to the the BW Edgewater. For the same price we got a water view room with balcony. In a much better location. Walk to the Sea Life Center, nice restaurants and shops. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, the rate includes an above-average continental breakfast. The room is on the small side, but it serves the purpose. It's clean, and comfortable. We're looking at Resurrection Bay and mountains, who can complain?!

Room Tip: We had a full water view room on the 3rd floor, it was great!

We stayed here 3 nights. The staff was very friendly. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. You can make your own waffles. One morning they had biscuits and gravy that was delicious. You can also get scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, pasteries, cereals and such. The place was quiet and peaceful. The Alaska Sea Life Center is right across the street. There are shops nearby. There is a nice walk along the bay to walk to the boat marina. We walked it many times and enjoyed it a lot. The views of the snow-capped mountains were awesome. The hotel was neat and clean. They have a shuttle bus that will take you into downtown Seward. The shuttle bus driver, I believe his name was Greg, was wonderful. He was very informative of the mountains and area establishments. We would stay here again if we ever get the chance to get back to Seward.

This was a great place to stay, with an excellent view of the water, a nice breakfast, close proximity to everything in Seward, and a friendly staff. It was nice to have a comfortable place to sleep after adventuring in Seward all day. I highly recommend this hotel.
