“Beautiful View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2014

We spent one night in August 2014 prior to boarding our Cruise Ship, This Hotel is right on the water front with a beautiful view of the harbour and the mountains across the water, small but great balcony, very comfortable king size bed, however room is very small, the bathroom is also small, with the washbasin outside the bathroom just in the entry hallway, ( a little strange ) but it works ok, staff are helpful, all in all not bad but quite expensive for what is offered.

Room Tip: If you wish a view i would ask for a front room.

In my view, the most important thing that a hotel provides is a comfortable, quiet night's sleep. Everything else is secondary. Unfortunately, this Best Western let me down despite charging midtown New York City rates.

First, the positives. The location is perfect. Right on the water's edge in Seward. If you get a water facing view, the vistas are truly awesome. Also, the morning breakfast is really good. A lot of options, hot and cold.

Now the downside. While this is apparently a newer facility, it apparently was built without any sound insolating materials. It's 3 stories and I was on the second floor. From above, I could hear every step that my neighbor made. It sounded like bigfoot lived above me. That was nothing compared to the next night when my adjoining neighbors decided to celebrate their wedding night/birthday very loudly. Nothing like getting jarred awake at 1am. It was really miserable.

The staff at the hotel was ok, but disinterested, at best.

I wouldn't stay here again, but that being said, this is a seasonal tourist place and you can't hold them to the same standards of a major city. However, if you're at all noise sensitive, stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Insist on 3rd floor.

This overpriced room didn't have much of a view, or at least not a pleasing one. It overlooked several dumpy houses and a junkyard. There wasn't much of a view of the bay. There is no designated parking lot for this hotel, the keys stopped working several times, and the toilet overflowed the first day we were there. Staff is nice, but this hotel is not worth the money.

Two lady at the desk in the morning spent most of there time gossiping about there coworkers thru out the day well within ear shot of guest. The older lady put on a fake smile with fake sincerity. Will stay somewhere else.

The hotel will do for a few nights. Nothing special. Bare minimum accommodations. However, it is centrally located to dining and attractions. Shuttle is convenient and takes you towards the center of town.

Stayed here the day prior to taking a cruise. The weather was rainy so it was nice to stay in a centrally located hotel right in the city. Hotel was clean and stayy friendly. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. This hotel also provided a shuttle to the ship.

Great location right across from Alaska Sealife center and the beach. Parking is very limited so that takes away half a star. Nice lobby. Good furniture and clean. air conditioning with remote control. Room we got was very tiny for a 2 Queen bed. The beds are actually double beds not queen beds and walking space is very limited so that takes away another half star. Very good service and nice continental breakfast in mornings including waffles, fruits, milk cereal, scones, Danish, juice etc.

Room Tip: Call the hotel to confirm you are not getting one of the inside rooms. Outside rooms have good views...
