“Family sized room.”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Stayed in the suite with our 2 children. Loved the day bed with trundle. We had a queen bed, 1 kid had a queen bed and the other had a king (day+trundle). Jacuzzi tub was a big hit with the kids as well. There was a microwave and fridge in our room, which is extremely helpful for us. Having our kids in separate beds made for very happy kids and even happier parents. Breakfast was not included (but found it rarely is in Alaska), but the expresso shop had muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, scones, and plenty of options for our family. Shuttle service was able to get us anywhere we needed to be and the drivers were very friendly. Just a couple miles outside of town, but a beautiful resort with an excellent restaurant and another restaurant (within waking distance) just down the road.

Our last one night stand on the land portion of our cruise. Not up to the same standards of the other hotels, but quite adequate. It is clean. A bit noisy (rather thin walls, I think) and more rustic than our other stops. Overall, pretty average.

Even though it rained every day of our stay in Seward, the Windsong Lodge was a warm, comfortable place to come to after a day on the boats. Liked the rustic furnishings.

Dont expect much but basic accomodations in your room. The vanity is next to bed so no privacy No fridge or micro. And 2 miles out of town so you will have to rely on their very accomodating shuttle service if you are without transportation and want to do anything.

This was our last stop of the land portion of our Celebrity cruise--the next day we were so looking forward to our ship Celebrity Millennium. Being an escorted tour, we should receive the little extra touches, right? The night at this place was awful. We were assigned the standard rooms -no fridge, no microwave, no king beds, and in the buildings next to the road.

Then, being hungry after the day in the field, everyone wants dinner, but the only option is their on-site "Roadhouse"--which really is just a big crowded sports bar. The town of Seward is a long 5 miles away--one must wait for lodge's "shuttle" to and from (or call a taxi--about $12). There are no shops or other restaurants within walking distance.

Our room was flimsy, noisy, so basic-small, with a 1960s feel to it. The beds were worn out entry model mattresses with no fitted sheets, so the sheets pull out, exposing the old mattress.

One runs out of options quickly here--you can't take an alcoholic drink from the bar to your room and there is no sundry shop or pantry. We settled for a take-out pizza from the Roadhouse--and even that wasn't any good and took forever to order, make and deliver with their disorganized service.

Had we been travelling on our own, we would never have considered this place. We are writing a letter to Celebrity concerning this poor quality lodging, lack of meal options and lack of service.

We stayed here in July for $255/night. Rather pricey for a standard hotel room with no fridge, microwave, or free breakfast. The location is outside of town so you are not paying for that either. Seward only has a handful of hotels so your choices are limited. I would recommend staying at HI Express in town. Same price, better location, and probably includes breakfast.

The outward appearance of the lodge is cozy and welcoming but our stay was
very disappointing. The beds as HORRIBLE- hard, lumpy, miserable. I asked the front desk
the next morning for a bed topper of some sort. They took the information and did absolutely nothing. When I asked later that evening, the desk clerk was uncertain that anything could be done but asked the transport staff to look for some padding. Two mix matched chaise lounge looking pads were delivered. They were a welcome relief to the mattress. When I to went to make tea that evening, I found an old used coffee filter in the machine which had never been cleaned. Other than the room, the interest and help of the staff was equally unremarkable. So many of the staff are from other places, they aren't able to give much advice...and don't try to find someone that can. If there's another option in Seward, I'd try to find it.
