“Amazing waterfront property!”

Twelve of us stayed here for the first three nights of our trip to Alaska. This place was the best way we could begin our trip! Very nice lodging, as our group had the common area with a few bedrooms, as well as other rooms separate from this area, which were ideal for all the couples. Very clean, comfortable and private. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable providing great advice for the reminder of our travels. The view of Resurrection Bay and it's sea life was better than we could have expected. Seward is a great coastal town that has some great places to eat as well as activities to keep you busy. Overall unforgettable time was spent here.

We stayed here 2 nights prior to a cruise out of Whittier and it started off with a bang ... Before we even checked in looking out in the bay 50 feet from shore were some sea otters ... like they were paid entertainment for arriving guests ...
Our room was knotty pine all over - a decor that fit so well with the surroundings - large and comfortable with the view of mountains across the bay ... No TV ... internet slow ... but that nature channel out the front window worked ...
A simple breakfast of fruit/breads/cereals got our day started with some nice conversation ... A family business run by friendly down to earth people ... out in the Lookout Point suburbs of Seward (the big city with 650 people in town) ...

We stayed at the Alaska Saltwater Lodge for 3 nights and had an excellent stay. Our room was large with 2 beds, table, loveseat, and a small refrigerator. There are private (outside) entrances to each room, and the rooms overlook the Resurrection Bay. Breakfast in the common room each morning was good with fresh fruit, breads, etc.

The only downsides (knocking off one point rating for us) was that the bathroom was a bit small and the showerhead at chest height for a tall person (I'm 6'3"), and there were no blackout curtains on the windows (when we were there, it only got dark between 2 and 3 in the morning!) As it was a bit warm during our stay and only one window opens, a fan for the room would be nice as well. The room was very comfortable none the less, and none of these bothered us much.
We didn't see any whales out of our window, but we did see several otters floating by, as well as an eagle feeding right on the shorefront outside the window.

We had also booked Jim's glacier/wildlife small boat tour, but unfortunately a surprise coast guard inspection required us to be booked on another company's tour. Our son had taken the Saltwater Lodge glacier/wildlife tour a few days before and he said it was excellent -- seeing 3 kinds of whales as well as MANY other wildlife. Unfortunately we didn't see as much on the other cruise. Perhaps we'll come back sometime when we can go on Jim and Kathleen's boat.

All in all, we'd highly recommend this lodging.

We stayed 2 nights. We were 2 couples traveling all over Alaska, but this would be great for a family too. Can't wait to bring the kids. This by far was the best hospitality. The rooms were large and comfortable (multiple windows overlooking the water). The people were fantastic. Enjoyed the breakfast. Also went on the all day boat tour which was FANTASTIC! Felt like home away from home and we can't wait to go back! Thanks Kathleen et all!

Room Tip: Upstairs room on the south side has multiple views.

We stayed a couple of nights. It was clean and gave us what we needed. Self-serve breakfast, easy to get to and on the water. We were in one of the side rooms as the rooms facing the water were booked. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: see if water front rooms are available

We stayed 3 nights at the Alaska Saltwater Lodge during our trip in June. Seward was drizzly (to be expected) but the Saltwater Lodge was a great reprieve from the weather. Our room overlooked the water, where we watched the otters place and saw a few whales. The room was clean with a small kitchen and living room area. The staff was very nice and friendly. The morning breakfast was simple, fruit, oatmeal, juice & coffee but adequate. It was nice to be away from the city, but it was a rough road to get to the Saltwater Lodge.

We drove to Seward from Anchorage and once we got to Seward and had to go on this one lane road out the other side of town, my family was not sure what I got them into. Once we got to the Lodge, I knocked on the managers door and he said that the key was in the lock for the cabin. Which being from the lower 48 states was weird that they just leave the key in the door. The cabin was across the street from the main lodge, but it was very large; almost too much room for just 4 people and it was very clean. We traveled through Alaska for 2 weeks and this was one of our favorite places. We raided the gift shop. They had some very nice items and reasonably priced. The owner was a master quilter and my step mother is also a quilter so the owner talked to my step mother about how they quilt in Alaska and the best shops to go to in Alaska for quilting. I believe my step mother could have spent the rest of the trip in Seward just talking to the owner. Even though the cabin was across from the main Lodge, you felt you were in the country because it was sit in the woods. The cabin did not have a TV, which my 17 year old niece about lost it when she found that out, but after the first night, she did not miss it. There was so much to see and do in Seward that she did not miss it for the next 2 nights. I would highly recommend staying here. Just don't let the location throw you off. It is only about 5 minutes back to main street Seward, but being next to the water and woods is worth it.
