“Great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2013

I was expecting less and was very surprised at how nice this place is. Don't know why so many bad reviews. We stayed in the eagles nest. An awesome big one bedroom with a kitchen and huge bathroom . Bed was amazing. Cabin cute. There is a little pond you can walk to. Super quite location outside Seward near exit glacier. Would for sure go again and stay longer next time!

We were there July 1-5 2013. Had a great experience. We spent four nights and had a great time. The cabin was wonderful after a full day outdoors. We were in Seward when the weather was at high 55. It was great to go fishing, kayaking, sight seeing and come back to a cabin so we could cook dinner, watch television and catch up on work. We honestly only saw Cliff for 30 seconds when we was leaving the property one night. Would definitely go again to this property. The best part of the fisherman cabin was the two bedrooms, separate living room and kitchen. The kids could still be sleeping and we could be up making breakfast, working, etc and let them sleep as long as they wanted.

Cabins were great and most of staff the sameway, Cliff had issues with us from the start, we were quiet but checked in too early to an empty cabin that one of the crew said was fine. He did not hold the same belief and let us know it. We agreed to disagree and continued on checking into various other ones. We set off the smoke detector because we did not see the sign on how to use the stove ( very small sign) and woke him up. We apologized but enough is enough, we spent $2000 in fear of almost anything we could do, Not again will we be back

Room Tip: Do not stay in the same cabin as the owners

This customer showed up and entered their cabin at 10:30 AM without staff approval. Check in time is at 4 PM and check out is at 10 AM. We use the time once the cabin is cleaned to do maintenance. When we went to check on this cabin we found these people already settled. They said they looked in the windows before entering. Luckily no one was still in the cabin when they were looking in the windows.

We booked the Eagle's Nest cabin almost one year in advance (for September 9 thru September 13, 2012) after receiving a brochure by mail, showing cabins on the pond. We even got a confirmation stating "nestled among tall Sitka spruce and cottonwood trees in the forest with a pond right out your front door". When we got there, we couldn't find our cabin on the pond, right out your front door. We called the owner and found that our cabin actually faced some type of storage shed, with construction materials covered with a tarp! The back of the cabin shared the wall with the laundry room, which was somewhat facing the pond. The owner was pretty testy on the phone after we expressed our disappointment over what was advertised versus what it really was. We even offered to upgrade and pay the difference for a cabin on the pond, but of course none were available. We decided not to spend one night there, even after fully paying for our accomodations. I have contacted the BBB in Alaska, and that's another story that needs to play out. Anyway, we ended up paying for lodging in Seward at the Holiday Inn Express. Some 25th anniversary trip due to their fraudulent advertising!!

Room Tip: Make sure you know which cabin you are getting. See photo below of the "pond view" that w...

We are very sorry this person felt he did not get what he selected online. This reservation was made over a year ago and he selected the least expensive cabin on the property. He had a choice at that time of all the cabins. The Eagle’s Nest kitchen window has a view of the pond. the front door (which you don't look out) does not face the pond. When they told me they were unhappy I explained that we were sold out for a few nights and did not have any other cabins immediately available. They asked us to move them but did not offer to pay the difference. Again, I explained we were sold out. They stated they would be leaving and I said I would try to re-rent the cabin for them. The week prior to their visit I turned away several bookings for this cabin. But after they left, I did not receive any other calls for their dates. We have several cabins that do not immediately face the pond. However, all are within a short distance of the pond. I mentioned to them that we have several seating areas out by the pond with teak Adirondack chairs for our guests to relax in. They said this was not acceptable. We have many people that request this cabin since the front door faces the woods and does not have any cars driving by. This cabin was clean, quiet and ready for their stay. There was nothing wrong with the cabin and it was their choice to stay at a hotel instead.

The cabins was new, clean, and very comfortable. Cliff, the owner came by personally to welcome us and make sure we were ok. They have obviously put in a lot of thought and effort and take pride in the place. Great stay! Secluded forest location that's just a few miles from the main Seward port.

This is the nicest place we stayed on our Alaska vacation. There was a lot of grass for the kids to play on, and the owner showed us where to find games in the office. The cabin was very nice and clean, I loved that it had a full kitchen! We got there late the first night and hadn't bought food yet which wasn't an issue because they had plenty of free breakfast food in the cabin for us.
One night we made a fire and roasted marshmallows and made smores with the kids next to the pond, what a wonderful relaxing stay!
