“OK - expensive. Don't book Eagle's nest!”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

My wife and I booked these cabins for 4 nights. It was just the 2 of us so we booked the smaller Eagle's nest. It's too small for 2 people travelling on vacation. As we entered, it quickly became apparent that this place was a small hotel room that included a kitchenette. It was nice enough but there was no room to place our luggage. There was not even enough floor space. Also it is not a stand alone cabin, the laundry facility is on the other half and there is no covered porch to sit on. My wife called the owner and they moved us to the empty lodge for $50 more per day. The owner complained that she would need to clean the Eagle's nest because we walked in it. We barely entered the place and did not even sit down! The lodge was very nice and we enjoyed our stay there but felt that I was overpaying.

Room Tip: Do not book the Eagle's nest unless it is a quick over night stay. It is too small.

We are sorry this couple felt the Eagle's Nest was too small for their visit. We have many couples request this cabin and stay in it for a week or more. Right now we have someone staying with us for two months in this cabin. This couple was moved to our only other cabin open, which happened to be our largest cabin. The price difference between the two was over $140 per night. Since they moved to the new cabin, we gave them a break on the price.

As far as cleaning the cabin, I am not even sure why they mentioned this. They did not clean the cabin or pay to have it cleaned. We have every cabin cleaned after someone has been inside the cabin so it is spotless for the next guest. the inquiry with them on whether they were inside or not was to determine whether or not the cabin had to be cleaned again.

Thankfully we were here for only 1 night, but we found the hosts unwelcoming, like we were an inconvenience. Not that we ever even met them. We had to call them on the phone and when I phoned, she sounded annoyed that I didn't have my pin number to get into the room and had to bother her. We had just been traveling for over a month, not exactly great opportunity to print stuff off computers and emails. The pin number machine didn't work anyway, you could just open the door, it didn't lock on our cabin at all.

The second time I rang was to ask where breakfast was going to be served. I scoffingly got told that it was in our bedroom. I went and had another look in the kitchen, in case I missed it - old cereal with powdered milk - and pancake mix. That's it! Bizare.. We went on our kenai fjords cruise hungry. It wouldn't have bent them over if they put some fruit and yoghurt and juice in the fridge if they're going to call this a B&B.

The setting of the cabins is nice and the rooms are clean. The location is a little way out of town.

We only had the pleasure of staying in Wolf's Den cabin for 1 night but we were very impressed and highly recommend Box Canyon Cabins. It was competatively priced for tourist season but if booked early enough had pleanty of availability. There were only 2 of us, for a 2 bed room cabin so we had pleanty of room. The cabin was cozy, clean and well stocked with towels, dishes, pancake mix, ect. There was no problem getting in and the internet, and tv worked as described. The bed was comfortable and we even used a game from the office that was provided free of charge. It was off the beaten path and a couple miles away from Seward but if you have a vehicle there shouldn't be any problem. I am a person that often makes decions on where to stay and what to do based off of others' reviews and I give this place an A++. I would love the opportunity to stay again in the future, and highly recommend it to others who are looking for a place to stay.

We booked both of the one bedroom cabins for several days over the 4th of July 2013. Beautiful quiet woodsy location, great wifi connectivity, nice laundry facilities. We are active between hiking and fishing so we appreciate new towels every day and we appreciate the peaceful surroundings. Exit glacier up the road, not to miss. Lost lake TH 15 minutes away. I research ALL our bookings, read reviews, and the negative situations were explained with the response back. I had contact with both owners and nothing but friendly, professional info. AND any emails I sent prior to our stay were answered within several hours. The ONLY constructive criticism is the eagles nest had like one steak knife / knife in the silverware drawer. We just shared as we loved the gas grill too.

We stayed here for one night during our trip to Seward recently. My favorite part of the cabin was the kitchen, it was neatly stocked. Other than that, nothing stands out in this place. The couch was dirty. When we pulled out the couch to sleep, there were socks on it left over by previous guests I think. We were not comfortable sleeping up in the cellar, wish it had a little window or something. It was an okay stay for one night.

We are sorry you found some socks left inside the futon when you opened it. Unfortunately when the cabin was cleaned the crew did not open the futon to check it. We wish you had called us, we would have come over and re-cleaned the area for you.

This was a great place to stay! Very cozy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend anyone staying here. There was pancake mix and oatmeal available, and also a propane grill that my husband used to grill the halibut I caught one day. Nice laundry facilities as well. You will enjoy it here.

We stayed in the Wolfs Den cabin from July 2nd to the 7th. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Everything was clean and it was stocked with everything you needed to cook. There was complimentary breakfast supplies and coffee and tea available as well. Towels were changed daily and the crew was friendly and available if you needed anything. The pond grill and fire pit area is a nice bonus for evening dinners outside. There is laundry available at cost and free wifi. The town if Seward is a 5 min drive away and exit glacier is 10. A must see and at no cost. Definitely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying here.
