Went to Holgate Glacier on the Stellar Explorer with Saltwater Cruises, as this is a small boat we got really close to the Glacier. It was stunning to see such a majestic sight, the size & blue colour cast of the Glacier are amazing. It was also cool to see huge chunks of ice that had broken off from the Glacier floating in the water. Our boat stopped for a good 20 minutes at the Glacier it was fabulous to just be in silence and gape at this awesome sight, simply breathtakingly beautiful.

Holgate Glacier is a phenomenal experience, even for the most experienced traveler..It is simply magnificient in its beauty and awesome to experience how small we people really are. It is a plus if you see if calve..but even if you don't, the blue color and the magnificence of being in the presence of a glacier of this magnitude will be impressive enough. I love the icebergs floating by our boat (Coastal Explorer) and the crew were kind enough to scoop up a small iceberg for us to touch and photograph up close and personal. I highly recommend this experience! Like many experiences in Alaska, it is different each time we go, but always magnificent!

This glacier is truly breathtaking. On the Kenai Fjords Tour they get very close to this glacier so you will get plenty of great pictures in front of it. The only reason this glacier doesn't get five stars from me is that we didn't see any major calving. I was lucky enough to see the Marguerite glacier in Glacier Bay, so that is my standard for 5 stars.

We spent about 25 minutes watching the Holgate Glacier while on a Major Marine boat tour. We could hear it groan and crack, and a few times, small pieces fell off. The glacier is huge! There were small icebergs floating around the glaciers.

As you get closer to the glacier, the temperature dropped and it was pretty cold on the boat deck.

We saw a few people in kayaks on the shore to the side of the glacier - that looked like a great way to see the glacier.

Unbelievable beauty and amazing ice bergs. We passed through thick foggy marine layer and the sky's opened up all sunny to display the glacier. Highlight of our trip.
