Though the island is little more than a huge rock, the place was awesome! My husband and I spent only two days there because of the price but it was more than worth it. The view is spectacular, complete with so many sea creatures easily viewed from the many decks. The yurts were great and clean, though be prepared for no electrical use! The use of the kayaks and paddle boat made it possible to make the stay an active one as well as a restful trip. The owners are wonderful and so excited for you when you make a discovery like an orca surfacing in the distance! Awesome, awesome, awesome!

We spent three weeks in Alaska for our honeymoon and the Orca Island Cabin was BY FAR the best place we stayed! The island is secluded in Humpy Cove so it's quiet and private. Eventhough there were two other yurts on the island with us, we felt like we had the island to ourselves! The yurts are cozy and warm- it made a great home for us during our stay. And each one has it's own private bathroom! We loved that we could make our own food (they have a range, outdoor grill, coffee press, full kitchen dishes, sink, etc), and we found plenty of fresh Salmon on the dock before we left Seward for our dinners.

If you're thinking the price seems like a little much, we did too... but it's SO WORTH IT!! If you consider the water taxi out to the island, kayak rentals, and fishing rentals you'd reach a total well over what they're asking. Not to mention you have a wildlife viewing right from your island deck! We saw river otters, porpoises, bald eagles, sea otters, fish, and starfish.

Susan and Dennis, the owners, were more than accomodating to us, and they went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We are just so excited to one day come back with our kids!

Fantastic. Relaxing. Stunning wildlife view from the bedroom window. Well-architected and lovely facility. Great opportunities for fishing, kayaking and rowing. Generous and cozy sundeck. Don't forget to bring ice for the cooler if you need to store chilled food. Susan and Dennis, the hosts, are lovely people.

My husband and I traveled to Alaska for our 2nd year Anniversary. We were met by Dennis, who took us on a beautiful 30 minute boat ride to Orca Island Cabins. Pictures cannot touch the untouched beauty of the bay and surrounding islands. We had a great time, as the weather was sunny and warm. We awoke almost every morning the the dall porpoises as they swam by in the morning....The calmness of the cove made our first experience in a kayack much better than we expected. We got to see a humpback whale, dall porpoises, harbour seals, sea lions, eagles, puffins and many other sea life. We loved the large star fish! We had a great 6 hr Glacier tour by Dennis, and to top it off, saw a pod of resident Orcas. It was so incredible to see them in their natural habitat!! There were tons of salmon in the stream by the waterfall & they tasted great! What a relaxing week we had, the yurt was great, bed was comfortable, and it was relaxing to watch the sun go down in the evening from our deck. Although we were worried about Hurricane Earl threatning the east coast, Dennis kept us updated each morning with a weather report. The special time we had together & the memories we made on our Alaskan vacation will last a lifetime! Many thanks to Susan & Dennis for sharing their island with us!!!

Orca Island is an amazing little gem! Beautiful, majestic views will fill your city dwelling heart and put you at ease.

The yurts are cozy and comfortable and well taken care of.

You can kayak and find many creatures and waterfalls! My friends and I saw, river otters, harbor porpoise, seals, eagles, jellyfish, sea stars and sea lions! After our big day of kayaking, we settled down and made dinner with the food we brought and used some of the mussels that we found when it was low tide. To end our night we lit a relaxing fire to lounge by.

All in all, a true alaskan experience that I will never forget.

I got engaged at the Orca Island Cabins! There was no one else on the island when we stayed, so we were all alone on a remote island in the middle of the Kenai Fjords, what could be more romantic? The weather was cloudy and rainy, I came down with an awful cold, and even so, our stay couldn't have been more perfect. The experience of waking in the morning to the sound of sea lions swimming right outside our window from our yurt on the edge of the ocean cliffs, barbecuing on our deck while bald eagles nested across the cove from us, watching seals, orcas, and otters from the Adirondack chairs of our private deck, exploring with kayaks and climbing around our tiny little island, sleeping in a lovely warm bed in our yurt with hot water and a fully functional kitchen and bathroom - it was the perfect mix of rustic wilderness and comfort and safety. Dennis was extremely helpful and kind - and gave us a beautiful painting of the yurts made by his wife. We will go back for many years to come - this place is perfect, perfect, perfect.
