This is an attractive hotel at an acceptable standard when you want to combine quietness, direct bus to the center of Copenhagen when needed, charming rooms like being at home, very attentive and serviceminded staff pluss and not at least: A wonderful restaurant with an improving standard from visit to visit. The atmosphere can be noisy at time, like a french brasserie, but ask for a quiet table when you order.

So the location is perfect if you want to have a car and drive around as well as live in the nice area of Copenhagen. Arriving at the hotel (we booked the cheapest room) we got more or less a single bed which was sold as a double room. Asking of they had something better we were moved the the "annex" which is quite close, but the internet does not reach. The hotel has to be considered boutique otherwise you would probably find it quite bad - but it is old and the small rooms and lacking views are expected from my side getting the cheapest room. None the less we faced loads of service problems. it seems like the staff think very highly of themselves since they are at THIS hotel, so they do not help very much. Sitting in the lounge to use the internet we tried to go to the restaurant, but were not allowed in the beginning. After then being asked to move from the lounge and not having anywhere to go, we did get to sit int he restaurant even it was "not allowed". When entering the restaurtant they had several tables with people already - so this was quite bad and to be honest you want the hotel to go out of their way to make you happy, it is not like this here. You feel like going on compromise since the area is nice, but it should not be like this... Saying this I am sure the rooms in the main building are amazing and the stay would have been very different staying there. I would give it another go as the location is really nice and the hotel is nice as well - I just wish they would learn something about service! I would come back since I am sure we have been unlucky this time...

Room Tip: dont go for the cheapest, try to get the sea view ones or choose another hotel.

This would get only one star. To get started the positive: the location is great! We actually stayed there when it was snowing and views of the sea with snow capped houses is quite wonderful. The house upon arrival with its christmas decorations was adorable and the inside seemed at first glance very inviting. Even the rooms were nicely furnished, but then look closer.....

Negative: the rooms are not clean. We had a sofa with many long black hairs to welcome us, there was quite a bit of dust around and the bathroom was pretty dirty and had a constant disgusting sewage smell. Not at all inviting.

Contrary to many reviews the restaurant in the evening was pretty awful. The food was extremely non-eventful and the service was slow and not very receptive. The choice was also very limited, although this is normally not a negative issue. They put us in the "conservatory" part and we were freezing because of the winter drafts. The breakfast was quite nice and the restaurant area was tastefully done. However, on our second night there we were told that because we were the only guests there would not be a buffet breakfast and what would we want to eat because someone has to especially cook breakfast for us. This alone makes you feel unwelcome and is not what I expect from such a pricey hotel. If I pay for choice, I expect choice no matter how many guests are at the hotel. Overall it was not a good stay and the staff was indeed quite off-hand.

I stayed here one night with work instead of central copenhagen as I usually do and was so glad I did, I had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea which I was not expecting. The dinner was top notch as well. Will defiantly stay again!!!

I stayed her for a week in June 2012, and it was just like entering the most charming atmosphere for the first to the last second.
The Hotel building itself is very old, but really carries it's age with lot of style. I had a lovely big room, with a lovely bed.
The food was just the most fantastic experience, and it was so delicious and well prepared in each detail through out all the meals.
One night we ate at The restaurant Nimb in Copenhagen town, and it could not at all compare with the hotel!
The hotel surrounding also was most fantastic, with the sea just a cross the road, were it was possible to go long walks, run, exercise, cycle, or whatever. The "Strandvejen" area is very beautiful, weith lot f traditiona Danish architecture being taken very professional care of.
It really was an experience staying at this lovely hotel for a whole week.

Since we knew the restaurant, we decided to stay over in this hotel. We booked the family room with two seperate rooms for us and our two small children. The room was an entire disappointment. Only one children's bed fitted into the so-called 2nd room which was in fact the walk-through room to the bath room. When we approached the reception about our disappointment she said that she would not be authorized to make us an offer that would satisfy us and we should write to the owner, who's e-mail she gave to us! We did so, but never got a response from the owner!!

It is a shame how such a great historic hotel with a great restaurant has been run down, is under-invested (needs urgently renovation) and is apparently poorly managed.

We will surely not come again.
Only for dinner.

I have been here privately, I have been here with customers, I have been here for drinks, for full meals, for my honeymoon night of bliss.
And through many years when Tufa ws in management, I have never been let down.
A special thank also to Gerome in the restaurant, for being so nice to my daughter and keeping professional , even if personal. Try the scallops!
