Don't let the 9km drive on a twisty, bumpy road fool you - once you enter the gates of the Villa Blanca you are in for a treat! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the casitas are well-appointed. You can explore the nature trail, visit the dairy, find serenity in the chapel. And everyone is so nice and helpful!

Room Tip: The hotel is remote, but so very beautiful!

Dear tmharris65,
We thank you for sharing how much you appreciated your stay with us. Most folks agree that the last few kilometers of country road are well worth some potholes to navigate for all the positive impressions once you enter the tranquil atmosphere of the cloud forests of Villa Blanca. We hope you’ll come back for more exceptional experiences we have to offer as part of the family of Greentique Hotels.

Stayed here for two nights in November 2013. Nice and peaceful and a great atmosphere in the cloud forest.

Arrived late (about 11pm) to a friendly welcome and immediately enjoyed the nocturnal wildlife sounds.

The next day we had a nice simple self-guided walk around the forest area. Good food in the restaurant, and had fun playing on the free pool table. They also had a very authentically old fashioned small cinema, although we didn't use it.

Dear Giles E.,
We especially enjoy when honeymoon couples are able to experience the serenity and romantic setting in their private honeymoon suite. We only regret you were not able to take more advantage of our wellness center, whirlpools and intimate evenings by our fireplace. Hope we can host you again for your wedding anniversary at Villa Blanca and perhaps add our sister properties in Manuel Antonio at Si Como No as well as in the Osa Peninsula at Aguila de Osa Inn.

We were 7 members of our family experiencing Costa Rica for the first time: our 2 children and 3 grandchildren age 10, 7 and 6. Villa Blanca was our first stop of a 9 day trip, The hotel arranged for pickup at the San Jose airport followed by an hour drive to Villa Blanca. Being in a cloud forest is amazing. It is always damp and wet but that did not stop us. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, all smiling. We had 3 casitas for our rooms. The casitas are very spacious with bed/beds, couch, rocking chairs, and a fireplace. They were most comfortable. The activities there were many: hummingbird feedings, cow milking, horseback riding, movie theatre, arenal volcano tour and hot springs, research center, night hike, hike around the property. Happy hour was everynight and enjoyed by all. Sitting around the two fireplaces in the lobby and talking to other guests added to the ambience. The meals at the Villa were delicious and average priced. The servers, Jonathon and Juarez(I think) were so great with the kids. There were always kids menus. The hot chocolate was a hit with the kids. Ingrid was our tour guide for the Arenal tour and was terrific. We bought a lot of local fruit in a local market to serve to our kids. Jonathon cut everything up for a beautiful presentation. The kids enjoyed tasting, some they liked and some they did not like.
Three days is about right at Villa Blanca. And then we were off to Si Como No.

Dear Miss Blue,
We were pleased that you decided to spend your family holiday with us at Villa Blanca and also included our sister hotel at Si Como No in Manuel Antonio. You obviously took advantage of many amenities and tours we have to offer in the cloud forests of Los Angeles Norte, and that your grandchildren also were quite pleased with all the unique experiences to enlighten them. It’s also gratifying when we hear how much care our staff has for our guests of all ages, and with the genuine hospitality that is part of the culture of hospitality of the our Canton of San Ramon. We continue to be encouraged by the great reviews about our caring and sharing staff that host our valued guests, providing many special memories of the authentic hospitality that is Greentique Hotels.

Dear Seknoian,
We only regret that you did not have more time to experience all the tours and amenities we have to offer. So if you decide to join us again, like so many repeat customers, be assured the extra room night (s) are on us.

Wonderful place, beautiful, spacious rooms with 2 bathrooms (imagine my daughter's delight in getting her own bathroom). You should know before booking that this is about 22 km outside of San Ramon...on typical Costa Rica unpaved, pothole-filled, narrow, winding roads that may most likely be covered in fog if you arrive at night. However, if you're up for the drive, the staff is super-welcoming and accommodating. And it's beautiful. Highly recommend if you want an out of the way place. Enjoy!

Dear Sara G,
Thank you for recommending us, and actually it may have seemed like 22km, but it’s actually only the last 9km that have some potholes to negotiate. That’s what we locals refer to as a typical Costa Rican country road. The good news is that the municipality is coming to do their annual road maintenance, so if you time it, it may seem like only a few kilometers next time you decide to become a regular and enjoy more of our “super-welcoming” hospitality as our very welcomed guests.

We enjoyed our stay here, even though it was the rainy season. Our only complaint is that the food was mediocre. Also, our evening waiter was a bit condscending in his attitude. The staff (with that one exception) and the accommodations were very nice. The fireplace was a very special treat.

Again, I guess because it was off-season, some of the activities were not available, yoga classes for example.
All that to say, it was a magical view.

Dear jim c,
We appreciate your review and apologize for your dinning experience as it’s very seldom we fail to meet customer expectations. Rest assured we will try and understand what went wrong as it merits our concern when we don’t deliver what so many clients feel is a great added attraction to have a dining experience, from start to finish, at our own El Sendero Restaurante.

The price is excessive for the service offered compared with others of the kind in Costa Rica.

Nice and clean but also pretty boring and quiet with not many thing to do around apart the spa (not included).

I really can't understand why they don't have bicycles, it would be so nice to discover the area around the hotel.

Dear Mathieu F,

Having read and responded to hundreds of TA Reviews, I have to respectively reply that you were truly an exception to the rule for your one night stay as a walk-in guest! Perhaps had you planned ahead, read reviews, or at least visited our website, you may have decided to drop in elsewhere and perhaps have found what you were looking for. However we always aim to please and regret your disappointment that your experience seemed to be the opposite of what we do our best to deliver with exceptional Costa Rica experiences that fortunately meet and often exceed customer expectations as a boutique cloud forest mountain hotel.
Sincerely,
