Stayed here for 3 nights on our road trip through France!
The view from our room was amazing, overlooking the beach and the harbour, with the Pyrinees on the horizon.
From here we explored San Sebastian, Hendaye, Pyrinees, Biarritz and more!
The breakfast terrace offers the best views of the harbour and beach.
The rooms are beautifully decorated. Ours had old wooden barrels as bedside tables and huge opening windows to breath in the fresh sea air and appreciate the view.
The only possible downsides to this hotel are the parking and the access for those less able. The parking is very tight but the manager/owner is a whizz at fitting everyone in, and will gladly park for you at any time!!
The access is not ideal for those less able as it is positioned up a steep hill, there are steps down to the street but not the easiest to scale after a few bevvies or with any disablement!
Overall though, a beautiful place to stay!
Will definitely return!!!

We arrived at the hotel at about 2pm. We pulled up in the car and almost immediately a lady came out and started shouting at us in french, which neither me nor my fiance understood. We managed to work out that she wanted us to move our car from the pretty convenient spot that we had parked in (convenient for us to be able to get it out the next day) to the spot at the very end of the car park. To placate the lady we moved the car. We then established the check in wasn't until 5PM! I have never heard of a 5pm check in time before. We were not allowed to drop the bags in the room and had to leave them in the car, so no chance to freshen up after our drive from Pamplona. We decided to head in to town - there are alot of steep steps down from the hotel to the main road that takes you in to St Jean De Luz and about a 15 minuet walk along the road to town. The steps were not a lot of fun on the return trip!
The room itself was clean and comfortable.
We did not have the breakfast as this was an additional 9 Euros and from the looks of it consisted of croissant, coffee and juice. We had the same on the front at Biarritz for 6 euro.
On the day that we left the hotel we experienced the great customer service again - we had done as asked and parked our car in the spot at the end of the car park in the corner again. When we came to leave there was a huge motorbike parked in front of our car. We went in to reception and asked if they knew who it belonged to and if it could be moved. The owner said it was his but that we could get around it. What followed was my fiance having to do a 30 point turn with the help of myself and other hotel residents to make our way out of the space without either damaging the bike, our hire car or the wall. We got there eventually but could have been avoided if the owner had been bothered to move his bike for us.
Not the best first or last impressions of the Hotel Agur Deneri but actually staying in the room was ok!

Stayed here twice now,the last time on my wayback to Portugal after visiting relatives in France. If you want a quiet spot away from what can be the madness of SJ then this is for you.The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the owners and staff really pleasant and the breakfast more than adequate.Have a good dinner in SJ and then a amble back to the Agur and crack open a bottle of decent rose(supermarket bought of course!) on your terrace and enjoy the views over the bay.So make sure you get a "room with a view" as not all of them have it!
Ok,parking can be a tad problematic but nothing a bit of resourcefulness cant sort out.On my first visit the hotel was fairly full so I parked around the corner,no big deal really.
If you need a quiet, reasonably priced place to lay your head within a short walk of SJ this could be for you.

Parking problematic, unless you're the first to arrive and don't need to use it during your stay. Unfamiliar hi-tech tap doesn't yield hot water without instruction. (Owner said "All the people around here know how to use it", but do all the locals stay in the hotel? She had deliberately not left instructions for use in the bath room). Reception not open at 2.45 p.m. (no advance notice of this - how was one supposed to know?)

No lift to 2nd floor.

Great view if you have a room at the front. I had a great view of the car park.

Overpriced for the quality. Will not return

I booked this hotel based on previous Tripadviser reviews and was not disappointed. We stayed in room 26 on the 2nd floor overlooking the bay. We went to sleep at night with the doors open to the sound of the waves and ate breakfast on the patio, again with the fantastic view.
On the downside it is a long walk back from St Jean after dinner, the parking is tricky, the WiFi was a little hit and miss and we would have prefered a hotter shower but ha ho the good far far out weighed the bad.

Room Tip: Room 26 had an eastly aspect with a small balcony with a table and 2 chairs.

We enjoyed wonderful views over Saint-Jean-de-Luz from our first floor room with balcony. Superb breakfasts and friendly service allow the hosts to make the most of this 2* hotel. The room was clean, but dated. The double bed was comfortable, but was the smallest of our stay in France. A GPS is a definite plus, but tight parking can be solved by giving the keys to the owner. Wi-fi worked okay in the room in the early morning, but required a trip to the landing to get a signal at night.
There are a whole range of enticing restaurants in Saint-Jean-de-Luz but, unless you propose to jog, they will more likely take 20 - 25 minutes to reach rather than the 15 suggested by others. The Google map underplays the distance.
Beware the traffic going north on the D918. It took us a good 90 minutes to travel 2 kilometers in the evening to reach the junction with the D810.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Found this hotel on Trip Advisor and based on the reviews booked one night in late July just before the great French exodus occurs. What a gem of a place. Agree about the need for Satnav to find it but once there is it well worth the trip.
Stayed is wonderfull room overlooking the beach at St. Jean De Luz. Bed was comfortable, bathroom excellent and breakfast in the morning -perfect.
Wish we culd have stayed longer and will definetly return
