We stayed here for two nights during our 2 week vacation in France, and it was the highlight of our trip. Isabelle and her family purchased the estate and run the B&B. They have done a spectacular job restoring it to be modern and upscale while still keeping the old charm of the house. The rooms are grand, charming, and comfortable and the shower is fantastic. Breakfast is typical French style with tea or coffee, fresh juice, croissants, baguettes, butter, homemade jams (delicious), and her homemade vanilla yogurt which is outstanding! The cost for breakfast is €12 per person.
Isabelle went out of her way to help us plan our activities during our stay. She even offered to drive us to a few places if they were on her way, since we didn't have a car (I would recommend renting a car to see the most of St. Emilion).
She also makes dinner for the guests in the house on occassion for €39 per person, and it was the best meal I have had in france, if not ever! It was five courses and each course had a generous pour of wine to go with it. The main dish was duck that was so tender and flavorful, everyone cleared their plates!
We can't wait until we have another chance to come back to St Emilion and stay at Chateau Cortebotte. It is truly a special place. More
