This old hotel has probably seen better (and more prosperous) days, but it still retains its 18th century charm, though it has been updated over the years. Located on the main road through town with a large public car park outside plus a secure lockup below, too, it's handily placed for walks around the old town & trips to the local sights. Current family owners really try to make you welcome, even out of season, which is when we seem to be visiting. Good room rates, elevator to guest rooms, but no other real amenities, the rooms are cosy & well kept each timewe'vestayed over the years.

We've stayed here twice now, once on a cycling tour and once while travelling by car to Italy. The rooms are clean, warm and comfortable, some with good views of the Abbey. We also dined in the restaurant and particularly enjoyed the "Poulet de Bresse". A "digestif" was offered and gratefully accepted - all in all a very good experience.

We stayed here on our trip back from mallorca and were so happy to be received by Metin (Meteen)who was so helpful and friendly. It makes such a difference. We had the room with the Abbey view and had a restful night. Dined in the restaurant and chose the 23euro and 32 menus.which were good value. (My wife always has the higher priced one.) Metin once again was in attendance and allowed us to interchange these to our tastes. The dining room has a wonderful gentil ambience We don't take breakfast but were offered a courtesy coffee by Metin in the morning. Taken in the morning room. If the sun is shinning lovey front terrace to have another. There is car parking right outside the hotel and access is easy .

Room Tip: 3rd floor with Abbey view serviced by a lift.

Poor reviews from 2009 and earlier can be disregarded, as the hotel has changed ownership since then. What a difference! Gone are the tired carpets and peeling wallpaper, and best of all, gone are the indifferent and rude management staff. Rooms were clean and well furnished, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom looked almost like new. Service in the restaurant was attentive, especially considering that it was busy, and the 'oeufs meurette' were wonderful. The helpful waiter from the previous staff has been retained, which is a bonus. Breakfast was 'ok', as in quite a lot of French hotels, but not special. A room at the back was entirely silent, with respite from the trains and traffic noise which can still plague the front (although apparently there are plans to fix this for next year by air-con and double glazing, as part of a major refurbishment that has already seen big improvements). The new management are clearly taking a pride in providing welcoming service in a refreshed hotel, which is perfectly located for exploring the town as well as being easy to access by road.

Room Tip: Until planned new developments are carried out, rooms at the back will definitely give better sleep due to less noise from the nearby trains.

We took a superior room for 76 euro and the room was big, bed was good, toilet and bathroom spacious, however because of the rain we stayed for dinner and that was a mistake tasteless boiled famous chicken, not backed as shown on the menu, so was the breakfast, unorganized, they ran out of bread, croissants at 9 o'clock, the waiter walks around like a blind man he but doesn't check if there is a shortage of anything, fruit, coffee.
