We did have a great time with Trail of '98 Tours. Our guide and driver Michelle was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and the background history. Our party was 6 people and we had one 75-year-old senior as well as one 8-year-old child, and all of us had a genuinely good time.
We chose to rent the van for the day, and did not feel rushed at all. We could go at our own pace, and took as much time as we liked at various stops. There were tons of gorgeous photo spots, and kids loved the dog camp, where they cuddled the husky puppies as long as they liked.
Since we started early (around 7:20am) as Michelle suggested, we could avoid most of the crowds (there were 4 cruise ships landing on the day) even though we went at a slower pace. Also we saw 4 bears, and Michelle made sure we could take pictures and take a good look at them whenever we spotted one on the road.
We even saw a mountain goat on top of the mountainside because Michelle spotted one and let us use her very good spotting scope.

All in all, I highly recommend this tour to everyone, especially when your party has 6 or more people.

Great tour of the Yukon and White Pass trail. The driver and guide Tom was extremely knowledgeable but also laid back. Highly recommend TNT for the tour.

We had 13 group members and were originally looking at renting 3 cars and driving to all of the highlights from Skagway to Emerald Lake. Then I noted that many of the top activities on Tripadvisor for this area were renting a tour van. We decided to look into it and came across Tom Strand.

Tom and Michele spend their summers in Skagway and enjoy the area so much they decided to buy a couple of touring vans so they could show others the countryside they have come to love. When we figured out it was much more affordable to hire Tom than to drive 3 cars (and no one would have to drive) we decided to go with a private tour. We were sold on TNT Tours because they commit the day to our needs, not necessarily the clock. We could tell many of the other tours in the area were more concerned with the time than with the enjoyment of their clients.

It was a fantastic day. Tom was patient with our group and gave us plenty of time at each stop for everyone in the group. He helped the kids pan for gold and introduced them to the newest litter of sled dogs. We stopped for a very enjoyable lunch, amazing photo ops, and watched a year old cub munch dandelions for 5 minutes alongside the bus. We could not have been more pleased with the tour or Tom (who is one of the nicest gentlemen in all of Alaska). I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to spend a day in the Yukon.

My family and I were on cruise that stopped in Skagway. I looked at the excursions offered by the cruise, but then I also looked around online and found TNT Tours. And I'm so glad I did! Tom met us at the pier right on time. We had 8 in my family (adults and kids), so we were able to spread out on the small bus so we could all have a window. The windows were huge and allowed for a great view of the beautiful scenery. This tour was somewhat comparable to the Whitepass Train ride that most cruises offer, but this was so much better. We had our own knowledgeable tour guide. We could stop at many scenic stops for a great view and some pictures, which the train did not. And we could go further up into the Yukon territory. Tom was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the whole area and was very friendly. You could tell he really loved sharing this part of the world with us. Plus, he was always prepared! If you just started thinking "hmmm... I'm thirsty," there Tom would be offering you a bottle of water. He also took pictures of our whole family for us. And at each stop, he would get out his binoculars to look for wildlife. If he found something, he'd get out his scope, so we could all see. The other great thing about this tour was that Tom timed it so we arrived right after the majority of tourists had left. We practically had Caribou Crossing (Huskie sled dogs) to ourselves. So no battling with others for your turn to cuddle and play with the puppies! This was a must-do and add the cart ride. So fun! It was a terrific day. Oh, and I did I mention that this was actually more economical then booking all of us on the train excursion as well. Book this tour today, and you will not be sorry!
