“Great motel and Great owners and staff”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

I can't say enough good things about this Motel.

The motel let us ship five giant duffle bags (Pak-Canoe, paddles, food, etc.) to them for our 1200 mile expedition on the Yukon River. They picked the bags up at the post office and kept them in the lobby for about three weeks until we arrived.

When we arrived by Ferry they picked us up at the Dock, and when it was time to take the train to Bennett Lake, they took us and all our gear to the train yard at the other end of town to catch the special hikers train.

The rooms are really nice, large, very comfortable, well appointed and very quiet. In addition the rooms are a great value.

The motel is in a great location, a few minutes walk to every thing in Skagway.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We were travelling to Skagway with our two teenage kids and were looking for somewhere offering a family room. Sgt Prestons offered us two separate rooms at a great rate and helped out with advice on the town. Just a short walk into town. Clean, tidy and quiet. This was one of our favourite stops in Alaska! The hosts were super friendly more than happy to help with any requests. Wi-fi was good too!

Traveled to Skagway via Alaska State Ferry System with my 80 year old mother. The only option in Skagway other than the Princess Cruise Lines owned hotels was the Sgt. Preston Motor Lodge. Great location one block off Main Street. Big Big room nicely redone. Hotel staff were very accommodating due to my mother's mobility. I would recommend this property even if rooms were available at the Westmark Hotel (cruise line owned)

We stayed 2 nights. Very nice, clean for a good price and short walk to the town centre. Free coffee or tea in the lobby. The lobby is full of what it seems to be memorabilia and as a first impression not very impressive. Don't be discourage, the rooms are great size.

At 120 dollars for a double Room sgt Preston's lodge is one of the best deals we had in Alaska the lobby is a mess, but quaint, the room spacious with a great bathroom and accessories. The lodge is a short walk to the center of town, but in a relatively quiet area outside the noise of the main 2 streets

Felt sort of dingy in the lobby; like walking into someone's unkempt living room but our room was delightful. Very clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water in just about the best shower I've ever had in motel room. Would recommend.

We stayed for two nights in a very clean and comfortable room. Beds were great and the room was quiet for sleeping despite being close to Main Street. The only negative was the lack of personality of the person on the desk - information was not forthcoming without lots of questions on my part. Although there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, they were available in the office at all times.

Room Tip: We were in one of the newly built rooms, the ones facing the inner decking were definitely the pick.
