“A gem of a hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2011

My husband and I spent 2 nights in this hotel as part of our honeymoon. The room was spacious, clean, quirky and comfortable. We received amazing service from the hotel staff and they even provided us with a bottle of champagne and fruit platter on arrival. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It has real character and style. Something which is lacking in so many others.

Fantastic staff at this hotel. Lots of character and fun little perks/touches, just like the other Hotel Monaco locations nationwide. Join their rewards program ahead of time to get free wireless internet and a $10 "raid the minibar" coupon. There's also a free wine reception in the lobby from 5pm-7pm daily. Easy, clean business center and fitness center.

Just spent three days in Seattle and we picked the Hotel Monaco based on location to our meetings and experience from other Komptons Hotels on east coast. This was a great stay and the best part ended up being the Hotel employees.

Not just front desk or the door man, but everytime a housekeeping or maintanence person saw us we were greeted with a smile, a hello and even would walk over a press the button to summons the elevator to our floor.

I am always impressed when all parts of a hotel are interesting, fun, clean and the people are happy to have you stay with them.

The hotel lobby and the unique display of one of a kind chandelers is worth seeing. Restaurant was a very nice find with great happy hour and very friendly atmosphere..

I will go back and next time to enjoy and relax.

After New Years Day 2011 it's the second time we have choosen Hote Monaco. Its friendly and caring staff as all the facilities and amenities are second to none in its class. Surely the best for tourists and business visitors is the hotel's central location in walking distance to the train station, the ferries and cruise-ships, great shops and many tourist attractions (MonoRail to Space-Needle, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Place, Smith Tower, China-Town, etc.). We're looking forward to come back soon.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms (10th floor and up) are best.

Needing a short get-a-way we decided to try seattle- a drive for us and we discovered two hotels on the internet that seemed right. The Edgewater and the Hotel Monaco. The Edgewater had a view and a fireplace, the Monaco had larger rooms and a deep soaking tub with jets. We are so glad we chose the Monaco. The room was huge and even though the window faced an air shaft- with little sun and great interior decorating, who needed to see outside. Every little touch was perfect. From Bryon at the desk agreeing to let us take a lobby easy chair so we could have two comfy chairs in our room, to the amazing decor of the room we were give. Feather pillows , a great duvet and a throw blanket for getting cozy while you read or watch TV. Plus they have a free program which - if you register for it- gives you permission to raid the mini fridge, use internet for free, get 20% off dinner and $30 off a massage. And who needed a massage when you have a deep Japanese soaking tub to climb into after walking those hills to Pike Place Market?

So many touches are to make the experience particular to you. what kind of pillow do you want? which paper? The goodies basket even included condoms and a lubricant if needed. Everu hotel should provide that. Way To Go Kimpton!!! you can even bring your pet and if you don't have one they give you a goldfish in a bowl.

The hotel restaurant is far above hotel food. Sazerac had an amazing ricotta gnocchi and beet salad that was to die for and the dessert- pecan maple flan with caramelized bananas was fantastic.

Hotel Monaco is located in downtown on a main N-S bus line in the free zone. the central library is across the street- cafes and amazing ethnic food surround you and so you can eat cheap and great within a walk from the hotel. Wine is served everyday at 5 and coffee/tea awaits you in the morning.

Ironically one of my favorite places to eat is in Portland's Hotel Monaco- Gracie's - you feel as though you are in the St Regis. Stayin at the Hotel Monaco has made a Kimpton fan out of me and from now on that will be my first choice in picking a hotel. Thanks to everyone there we had the get-a-way we really wanted and needed.

Room Tip: x01's are in the corner- large and quiet.

Hotel is in a great location that is walking distance to waterfront, restaurants, and Pike's Market. Loved the quirky decor and furnishings. Definitely different than most of the vanilla chain hotels out there. Rooms were a little bit small, but nicely furnished and clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Daily wine happy hour was nice. Parking was valet only at $50.
I would definitely stay here again- I really enjoyed this hotel!

First I admit, I'm a huge Kimpton fan. They just have such a fresh approach, and they have a handle on how to make guests feel special. The Kimpton rewards program (called InTouch) is worth joining. They have a great wine hour along with a non-alcoholic selection for those so inclined as well as for the kiddies. The loaner program of a pet goldfish also was a huge hit.

The room decor is trendy and unique. This is the third city where we've stayed at a Kimpton, and our family will seek them out wherever we stay.
