“Fun in Seattle”
Reviewed 26 July 2009

My friends and I just returned from a trip to Seattle. We stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel and it was the most pleasant place I have ever stayed. We arrived and were upgraded to a double queen suites. That was wonderful because they had two baths in each suite. Our suites were very cozy and comfortable and clean . The hotel was all very beautiful and warm. We used the concierge, ate breakfast in the restaurant every morning and had drinks and some food in the lounge in the evening. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful in every way. The location is excellent for going to the waterfront, Pike's Market or going shopping. The tours we took picked us up at the hotel and brought us back there. If I ever return to Seattle I would definitely go back to the Mayflower Park Hotel.

Stayed at the Mayflower with my wife while attending a conference at the Washington State Convention Centre. Great location. Close enough to walk to the Centre but far enough to avoid running into attendees 24/7!

Also close to a wide range of shopping tastes: Macy's, Nordstron, Banana Republic Payless and Ross Dress for Less for example. Some of the surroundings were a bit dingy (that park with the waterfall for example) but we never really felt threatened even though some unsavoury looking characters were always hanging around.

Didn't spend much time in the hotel (out in the morning, back at night) but we did eat at Oliver's which was delightful and enjoyed watching a very amusing bartender give lessons to a visiting group. We were left alone, and that was fine. The room was always well made up and that was our main concern.

Free wireless internet was great, so I could check my email at nights.

No assistance provided on checkout (it was 4am and the staff did seem sleepy) but that was fine too. Saved a tip there. We would stay there again if we went back to Seattle.

The Mayflower Park was a great place to stay. It is 82 years old and the room are a bit smaller to match but definitely fine for a solo traveler. The service was impeccable. The location is great - four blocks from Pike Street Market, two from the Convention Center and right next to Macy's and Nordstroms if you are a shopper. The monorail connects right there if you want to go to the EMP or Space Needle. There are lots of other transit options right outside your door. Great stay - would stay again.

The Mayflower Park hotel is a "historic" hotel, so it may not have all of the amenities (flat screen tv, large bathroom) of a newer hotel, but it served our needs for a short three day trip to Seattle. It's just a few blocks from the market, so it was great to start the day with breakfast from one of the bakeries and overall very central to the typical tourist stops in Seattle. The staff was very friendly and the free wifi is always appreciated (and should be standard in hotels) - they also had two computers in the lobby for guests to use. We did not stop at the bar in the lobby, but it looked very inviting. Overall a nice stay. One other tip if you do not rent a car (and if you enjoy exploring cities on foot, a car is not necessary and saved us quite a bit of money in parking) - definitely consider the "Downtown Airporter" to/from the airport. The taxi ride is $40+ and the Airporter picks up at a hotel very close to this one and was only $11 per person.

We've stayed here three times but this was our first since I joined TripAdvisor. We had three nights around our anniversary. The hotel is a great combination of location and service. Every staff person we interacted with was polite and friendly.

We had a deluxe room this trip, which I recommend over the standard room. The seating area gives you a lot more room to spread out. We were on the 10th floor with peak-a-boo views of the Sound and Lake Union. There was some construction noise from 4th Ave but it didn't start at an outrageous time. The only minuses of the hotel are the small bathrooms, which I find livable, and some noise from adjoining rooms. I did need earplugs our second night as our neighbor seemed to be on an all night bender.

My wife lived in Seattle for 8 years and I lived there for 2 and we both love the location of the hotel. It's an easy walk to the Market but not so close that you get the noise and crowds. It's also close to lots of bus lines (and light rail, in a few weeks). We had a rental car for two nights so we could visit some favorite haunts around the city that are a little harder to get to by bus. I was pleasantly surprised that parking was only $15 a night -- I've paid much, much more at city center hotels. There's an Enterprise a few blocks away on Westlake, so it's easy to beat the extra taxes from an airport rental.

We skipped Andaluca this time as we have other favorites downtown. My all-time favorite breakfast in Seattle is Lowell's at the Market. Get there early for window seats on the third floor, which have stunning views of the Sound. We also love Etta's on Western for great fresh seafood but there are lots of other good places to eat around the Market.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else downtown. This has charm and location and can be a bargain if you play you're booking right.

We booked this hotel through Expedia.ca. Received an awesome rate of CDN$129. Rates for our room would usually go for over $200 a night. We think it was because we booked the room just for one night (Saturday) and just two days before we were in Seattle. They may have just been trying to fill the rooms.

Upon our arrival, check-in was excellent. The front desk was extremely helpful, we used the valet service and it was $15 for 24 hours with unlimited in-out privileges. Considering that the hotel was on 4th Avenue. It was an awesome deal.

When we got to our room, it was on the 11th floor (the hotel only has 12 floors), the front desk had booked us into a quiet corner suite and the room was immaculate. Others mention that it was smaller but for a married couple, it was just fine. The bed was comfortable, the sitting area with the TV and the desk with the mirror was helpful for putting on makeup since the bathroom didn't have much counterspace. The bathroom was small but had all the essentials. A good flowing shower, plenty of towels, complimentary products and bathrobes. We only stayed for one night so we didn't even use all the products but it was definitely great. Keep in mind, this hotel was built back in the 20's (i think) and it has been renovated a few times but the essence of the old-school style wasn't lost but it didn't feel dated or grungy at all, in fact, we felt like it was a great little getaway hotel that was close to the main downtown Seattle area.

The lobby lounge, Oliver's, has really good martinies, they have won competitions for it. It was really nice also with the big windows and the high ceilings because you could watch people walking by and enjoy a tasty drink at the same time. A great before-dinner option.

The concierge was extremely helpful, he gave us some options for how to spend the night and we gave him ideas of what we wanted to do and he gave us suggestions that fit it perfectly.

The restaurant Andaluca's, we didn't go to but supposedly they have the best mediterranean, we will definitely check it out next time we visit.

Overall, our stay at Mayflower was excellent. We would highly recommend. Even though it is rated 3.5 stars, it could be 4 stars for sure but since it is rated 3.5 i guess you are even more pleasantly surprised. And since it hasn't been taken over by any of the big hotel franchises, you can go away feeling like you have really supported the local businesses.

Me and my husband can't wait to go back to Mayflower Park!!!

Almost perfect but the housekeeper needs to look more closely in lower and corner areas. A great location. We had a deluxe queen/queen with plenty of room. I would recommend a higher level because of local construction. The fitness area only had two treadmills.
