“Quirky hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

The Edgewater is a quirky hotel but one we enjoyed very much on our stay in Seattle.

The views in the bar/restaurant alone a reason enough to visit this hotel. I would say the hotel's decor would be on the old fashioned side for some but we found it to be part of the character of the place. Different yet pleasant.

Our room had great views of the bay from our balcony and was also far enough away from the railway for the noise not to be an issue. It was a long walk down the corridor from the main reception but again not really an issue.

Seattle as a city surprised and impressed us, lovely place and the Edgewater is ideally placed to explore further with Pike Place a 10 min walk and Space needle 20 min walk.

The staff were helpful and polite. Our room was roasting with the fire pilot light being on but they got the engineer out to switch this off on our request. Would stay here again if visiting Seattle without considering any other hotels.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view room - you will not regret it

We just got off our cruise where we had water views 24/7 and checked into the Edgewater to make the transition to land a little easier!

What a fun place! From the Beatle memorabilia, the beautiful lobby, the fireplaces in the room and of course, the water view, this place is lovely. A quick walk to the piers, restaurants and Aquarium, not to mention buses, ferries and the metro, this was the perfect hotel in the perfect location to enjoy downtown Seattle. Wish we had more than two nights to spend after our cruise here in Seattle. A give yourself at least three days.

Also, breakfast in the dining room was spectacular. Keeping that cruise attitude going...

Room Tip: Definitely go for a water view!!!!

Chose the Edgewater for a water view for a night before a family cruise. Rented three rooms. The group included five adults and three children (70,67,40,40,39,11,9,3). Arrived early and tipped nearly fifty dollars to have luggage stored for the day. The luggage was haphazardly thrown in a storage room. They were unable to deliver it to the rooms after claiming that the claim check showed too few items. For the other seven items we had to personally identify each piece, carry two ourselves, and then continue to request the other items after one piece was delivered to a stranger's room. They did not offer to return the large gratuity. // There was no shuttle service to the Princess Cruises pier. /// The restaurant and bar are very nice for a business traveler but do not accommodate children. We were able to have some food delivered to the lobby by a trainee after errors and omissions. Do not try to feed children at the Edgewater, walk to one of the waterside restaurants which are close and very tourist and children friendly. //// The rooms are nice but do not resemble anything in the website. // For a business or adult hotel the Edgewater is nice but for tourists with children go to the Marriott. // Stay date was 12 July 2014. / Veteran of over twenty-five cruises, domestic and international.

Had booked a view over the water and were delighted to be upgraded to an unobstructed premium view room with added addition of a roll top bath.

Room was spacious and view was very good. Beautiful bathroom with large walk in shower and the bath. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Although it was June we had to try out the fire in the corner of the room which although we only had on for a few minutes must be lovely in the winter months. Good coffee/tea facilities and fridge. No safe in room but very well organised system at reception to leave your valuables in the deposit boxes provided. Found the staff to be really pleasant and helpful. Did not eat at hotel as breakfast was not included but could see that the restaurant was well attended. Location is excellent and we were able to walk to all the must see sites. Wi Fi was free which was great. Great nights sleep. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Seattle.

Room service was very prompt. The front desk was polite and very helpful. The bell man and valet parking were very on top of their job. But the concierge desk was primarily absent. In fact with all of our comings and goings over two days we never saw anyone at the desk. The front desk helped us each time.

In advance we asked them to make two dinner reservations and the restaurants did not have them. Hard to say who was a fault.

The room was clean and nicely appointed.
They offer a great free shuttle to downtown but it does not run often enough. On the hour.

Room Tip: ask for view of harbor

Everyone is always good to me. From the front desk to the valets to the people who clean my room I got nothing but smiles and good wishes. You would have thought I was someone important.

This is not the first or second time I have received this treatment from the staff its every time for over 5 years. Laura at the front desk treats me like family.

Room Tip: Water side is much better. More quiet, more scenic.

I'd not stayed at the Edgewater before; as a Seattle resident, there's just so infrequent a need to stay in my hometown! But I got to cross it off my list for a business meeting, and enjoyed it. The rooms are nice; the beds (and pillows) are phenom. I've had the best (hotel) nights' sleep at the Edgewater; far and away better than other places I've stayed at across the US.

The staff was very friendly; I was ALWAYS greeted with a hello - even from housekeeping.

Bathroom amenities included hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, and nice bathrobe. They apparently have rubber duckies somewhere in the bathroom, but I never saw one.

They did have the cutest teddy bear on the bed when I arrived; I'm a sucker for teddy bears and am kind of kicking myself that I didn't get one (though at $30 a pop, they aren't giving them away, either).

Six Seven (the hotel restaurant) has a good happy hour that I would come for regardless of whether I was staying at the hotel or not. The "apple of my eye" cocktail was delicious, and nice to have a "bigger" (i.e. mojito sized) cocktail rather than a smaller one such as a lemon drop. (They always seem to go down so quickly.)

Room Tip: Even-numbered rooms have a water view!
