The Sorrento is an elegant oasis slightly removed from the major congestion of downtown Seattle. It is a smaller, very personalized hotel. The rooms are all individually decorated and many have outstanding views of Puget Sound. Considering what you get, the rooms prices are not exorbitant. There is a beautiful dining room and handsome public areas. This century-old, stately brick hotel is a standout in a city which has quite a few choices of first-class lodging.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are especially nice.

I've stayed at the Sorrento annually for several years. The location is close to Capital Hill and the Swedish Medical Center. It is easy to acess from the freeway. My room has always been large and comfortable, but at times traffic noise on Madison Ave. can be disturbing. The staff is always efficient and helpful. The Hunt Bar is cool but I think the restaurant food can use some improvement. Wifi is free and works well. The only thing that irked me was the $39 parking fee per night. I did not realize that when I booked the room but if you do the math that is 26% of the room rate. So if you room rate is $149 which appears quite reasonable, bu the time you add the $39 for parking and then $30 for tax it feels like you are buying an airline ticket where half of the cost is 'hidden' through baggage charges and taxes. However, I would still recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Obtain a room that does not face Madison Ave. (or whatever it is called),

This is our second year enjoying the beauty and warmth of the Sorrento for our anniversary. It is such a pleasure to have a staff that knows how to treat their clientele.

The room is roomy and the bed and bedding are so first class! Wine bar/French press, doesn't that tell you something about their attention to detail?

The Fireside Lounge is warm and cozy without being "stuffy". Fireplace, piano and jazz, ahhh peacefulness.

Hunt Club, outstanding service and the food was exceptional. The martini and wines were outstanding.

Did I mention how much we love this place?? Thanks Sorrento for doing it all Perfect.

Walking into The Sorrento, is walking back to a time of dark wood paneling, suited valets, exceptionally courteous staff and a lounge area that makes you want to stay and read and play chess or talk global politics over a glass of single malt. It's a place F Scott Fitzgerald, and Hemingway would have entertained Gertrude Stein. Dark, warm, comforting. The guest rooms are very clean, the big windows open, (I recommend a jr. corner suite) the sheets are soft the pillows sublime, and the robes so comfortable I wanted to buy one. The Sorrento is nicely located within walking distance of Pikes Market, the train station, the International District, and that hip area with all the restaurants on 12th street. So there you have it. Go to Sorrento and feel like life still has some of its old charm.

Room Tip: Corner suites are wonderful

Thank you so much for the kind words! It is funny that you mention Ms. Stein, Her and her partner Alice Tolken were frequent guests of the Hotel. It is rumored that Alice still "visits" us on occasion!

Beautiful historic hotel. Lobby reminds me of hotels in Europe with wood paneled walls, beautifully upholstered furniture, and big fireplace. Valet parking. Top of the line service in every respect. Walking distance to downtown. Next time I'm visiting Seattle, I won't even consider other hotels. No pool.

Room Tip: Our double room was well-appointed but there wasn't a lot of extra space.

Wow. Ok, we'll first of all, I got lost trying to find the place, so make sure you have directions--your GPS will need just a little boost here. Then you pull int a turnaround that has about a 3-foot diameter and scary borders.
But then everything changes. Really. The valet/concierge makes you feel like you're part of the family, then the service at the front desk makes you feel like you're the favorite cousin. The feeling is very European, with small but well laid-out rooms with all amenities. It's cozy, warm, old, and comfortable. No question in my mind that I'll come here again, and I recommend it to you, too. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask what's available. All are comfortable, but some may fit your needs better!
