Great location, very comfortable room, though odd bathroom arrangement. Staff were very helpful, even allowing an early check in, which was very much appreciated as we had arrived on a red eye from Honolulu.
If we are ever back in Seattle then would certainly use hotel again.

On our first visit to Seattle we stayed at the very trendy/chic Hotel Max. The room was excellent and staff was very accommodating by storing our bags while they prepared a room for early check in. We were also given a larger room to assist with more room for our young child to move about.

We have already recommended to friends of ours who already booked a week at Hotel Max this summer.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room if you have young children or much luggage.

i stay at this hotel a few times a year. i love the staff, the quirky but fun details, and dj at night in the lobby, and the location.

the elevators are too small, which would be ok if there were so many people with so much luggage that i had to wait perhaps five minutes on most occasions to get up and down.

from my last visit, the hotel has now completed its renovation, and is better than ever.

rooms are small but reasonably well appointed.

the people who work at the max seem to really care...want to please...and go the extra mile.

i like the property a lot, and this is where i will continue to stay.

the new restaurant is just terrific by the way.

Room Tip: stay away from rooms near the elevator. wifi is in fact paid but if you ask about it they seem to ma...

The hotel is nice and the location is central to getting down town and the places of interest. The staff are nice an helpful, but don't appear to be knowledgeable about the city itself. Make sure you take maps or apps to get around.

Room Tip: My room on the 7th floor had a view of the back of the high rise so couldn't comment on a view

Hello there Cegsy O.,
Thanks so much for staying with us at Hotel Max and for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor. We really appreciate the compliments about our property, our amazing central location and our helpful staff. I'm sorry to read that you didn't find them to be knowledgeable about the city. We push everyone on the team to be experts on Seattle, it's history and what's hot. We really push our local partner as we think that they are what make Seattle so great.
Again, thanks for your time and hope to welcome you back soon!

This hotel is marginally acceptable for a one-night stay. It would be claustrophobic for more than that--plus I have no idea where you'd put more than one suitcase. It is small even by European standards. The closet is only about 10" deep (and full with an ironing board) so you can't really hang anything. We had a room on the back of the hotel which overlooks the ventilation system for the building next door; the earplugs on the nightstand are a clue about the constant low roar you hear all night. Convince yourself it's white noise and you can fall asleep. Their effort to "personalize your experience" failed for us. When I asked at check-out what that was supposed to be all about, they said they lost our email and offered to get something for us then. But the moment to surprise and delight me had passed; what could have been cool ended up just being weird.

One the positive side: it has a good location--an easy walk to the Pike Place Market and a couple of blocks to the monorail (Space Needle, EMP Museum, Chihuly Garden).

Room Tip: Rooms on the back have ventilation noise from the building next door--all night long

Hey there ShowMeSomething!
Thanks so much for choosing the Max and for sharing your comments with TripAdvisor. As you know we've got some unique rooms with quirky layouts but we rather like it that way. No one can call us "cookie cutter." Please know that we have larger rooms so don't be shy about asking. We are more than happy to accommodate if available. Being in an amazing location downtown we try to be proactive by offering guests ear plugs to allow them to get a good night's rest.
I'm very sorry that we dropped the ball with the "customize your stay" option. I will be following up with our team to ensure that this doesn't happen again.
Again, thanks for staying with us and we hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back soon.
Cheers,
Kevin Scott

If you are sensitive/allergic to perfume, do not go near this hotel! As confirmed by front desk staff, they had "Cotton Candy" scent piped into the ventilation system. This cheap, fakey, headache-producing smell was overwhelming in the lobby, and even the 8th floor hallway. Luckily, not as bad in the individual hotel room. Staff said scent for next month is to be Pina Colada. Also, gushing leak under bathroom sink was fixed while we were out to dinner, but had to call again for replacement towels.

Pros: Nice staff, especially valet who helped us find street parking. Modern, artsy decor. Good location downtown. Pillow menu.
Cons: Horrible scent in ventilation system. Small room and cramped bathroom, due to being a 1920s building.

Hey there shelleyb746,
Thanks for staying with us at Hotel Max! I'm thrilled to read that you enjoyed our team, our design, location and amazing pillow menu. On the other hand, I'm sorry to read that you were affected by the cotton candy smell throughout our lobby. Our goal was to bring a fun and youthful scent to our lobby which most guests enjoy and say it reminds them of being a kid and bubble gum. Headaches and allergic reactions were definitely not the reactions we wanted so again I’m sorry for your discomfort. Please know that I will be looking into the dilution rate as well as other scents to see if there might be a better option.
Again, thanks for staying with us and I'll keep you posted if we make any changes.
Cheers,
Kevin Scott

Really nice staff; hip and helpful. Easy in and out for cars. Walked to all the great stores; J. Crew, Nordstroms, etc. Walked to Pikes Market. Comfortable beds and green policies! The beer makes a lot of sense to mingle and sample local brews. Also was able to store our bags while we trudged around the market.

Room Tip: 6th street is noisy you are in the city right? Lots of ambulances so maybe choose the other side.
