If you'd like to stay in a place that has guest comfort on their priority list, look no further. The Alexis Hotel will not disappoint. I like the fact that they also take dogs, of all sizes (no weight restrictions), even though I have never brought my dogs. It just feels more chill here even though they have an extremely clean, professional demeanor. From the moment you're greeted at the door, you do feel as if you've stepped into something of a sanctuary . . . away from the bustle of city life. Perhaps too, this has something to do with all of the books and magazines that are used for decoration and for your edification. It's delightful to be able to snag a book in your room, the lobby, the Library Bistro, or the Bookstore Bar and sit down and read it while you're there. I mean, how cool is that?
The internet is not free here unless you're a Kimpton member. But, it's isn't difficult to become a member. So, I suggest that, before you go, get online (if you can) and check out what it takes to become a member (if you so desire). It wouldn't hurt since Kimpton tends to be a pretty good brand all around.
The rooms are incredibly delightful as well. If you get a chance to return to Seattle several times, you'll notice that every room is quite different. And, amongst other amenities, if you've forgotten your socks, don't worry, a pair of soft, warm ones are hanging in your closet. Not to mention the robes and slippers, in every room. Many of the rooms also have wood burning fireplaces! On a rainy day, pick your book, a glass of wine, and curl up in front of the fire. When you travel as much as I do, these simple pleasures do not go unnoticed.
The food in the hotel's restaurants is delicious. I can highly recommend just about anything on the menu. And, you won't be disappointed with portions. There is also a spa connected to the hotel, with a small steam room, that sells Aveda products. Their services are very nice. And, don't miss the "Hosted Wine Hour" in the lobby every evening from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Note: don't miss SIFF (Seattle Film Festival). This is a great place to hang out during the film festival. Also, but of course, don't miss Pike Place Market.
