staying with mom (who lives in seattle) is no longer an option when we visit ... so we have been staying all over downtown seattle in our many trips to see family over the years ... and finally ... we have found the hotel to come back to. the alexis was such a great choice .. it is beautiful, has great energy, smells good!!! has a great staff - all of which were so accommodating to our every request and the whole stay was just an overall wonderful experience. we walked to the baseball stadium, pike place market, the ferries, the aquarium, just was able to walk EVERYWHERE and we had a car that just sat. and the room, so clean, comfortable and just nice. upon checking-in, coming and going and leaving, the front desk staff always seemed to be smiling and saying hi or bye ... we felt so very welcome there. i thought that having a small child may not be the "demographic" for that hotel - but trust me - i never felt my child was a burden or not welcome .. they even allow dogs .. so very cool .. thanks to all at the alexis .. we will be back!!!!

I plan group travel for women (the Pink Suitcase Sisters) and we have stayed at this Kimpton two years in a row and will be back in 2010!! This hotel and EVERYONE that works there is fabulous. Especially Angie, who helped me with the group. It is in a great location (right down the street from Pike's Market) and in the middle of some fabulous shops. Don't be afraid to go in the jewelry store next door to them because you this it is too pricey....the prices are great and the jewelry is wonderful. I got a one of a kind ring made by a great artist and it was only $80.
The Alexis is great and I recommend it to all my clients going to Seattle and we can't wait to go back next August!!

The room was luxurious, super clean, well decorated. Probably because it was a downtown hotel in an old building the room was on the small size, but the bathroom was large with a good shower and beautiful marble floor and countertops. The service is outstanding. Very easy to walk to just about anything you'd want to do in Seattle-waterfront, stadiums, shopping, Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square.

We had a great stay at the Alexis Hotel. We had a beautiful large room facing 1st Ave. The street noise was tolerable. The decor was beautifully appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was updated with new fluffy towels and Aveda products. The hotel is close to Pike Street Market, just up several blocks. Buses are convenient. The evening wine get togethers were fun. The Library Bistro had a nice breakfast menu. The Bookstore Bar was great for Happy Hour. The only draw back is the parking which is very pricey at $36.00 a night. Overall we had a terrific stay!

Dear Denverfoodlover -

Thank you for sharing your comments about the Alexis Hotel. We are commited to reviewing guest feedback, and are always appreciative of our guests who share their experience with others.

We are also glad to hear that you had an opportunity to enjoy some of our services include wine hour (which we hold nightly in the lobby from 5-6pm - open for all guests), and the Library Bistro restaurant featuring dishes from our acclaimed executive chef Tiffany Layco. Thank you also for your note regarding parking - while we work hard to keep our parking rates competitive, the downtown Seattle market generally offers valet parking rates ranging between $28 - 40 per night.

We hope to see you again soon, and thank you again for your review.

This was a weekend getaway in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. I advised the hotel that we were there for a special occasion, and throughout our stay we received numerous courtesies. We stayed in the Pacific Northwest Ballet Suite, which was sunny and spacious with a water view and beautiful photos and memorablia from the PNB. The hotel's recent renovation is evident everywhere, and luxious linens and Aveda products in the large and beautifully furnished suite add to the sense of luxury. Both the Library Bistro and the Bookstore Bar were first rate, and the Alexis is ideally situated for an easy stroll to virtually all downtown restaurants and attractions. If you arrive with a car for more distant excursions, the parking valet service is swift and efficient. This is a hotel that makes you feel like their "guest" in the very BEST sense of the word. In a word: PERFECT.

We stayed at the Alexis 5 nights when we visited Seattle on our anniversary and I don't think we could have made a better hotel choice. The location is great, we reserved a car from the airport to get there and were able to walk or take the bus to wherever we wanted to go. It's a short 10 minute walk to Pike Place (uphill, but then what isn't in Seattle?) with plenty of interest to see on the way and several good restaurants in the area and a nice bar just downstairs. Like much of the city, the clientele on this street is eclectic, you'll walk past a wide variety of establishments, but nothing where I didn't feel comfortable going out on my own.

When I told them we were there for our anniversary, they bumped us to a king room with a sitting room at no charge. Additionally, we showed up early and they held our bags until check in, no questions asked (any good hotel *should* do this, but the response can be surprising) as well as holding the bags for the couple of hours between when we checked out and when the car picked us up.

The room was lovely - comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The view wasn't awesome, we just saw the top of the next building over, but we had curtains drawn for privacy most of the time anyway. The bathroom was beautiful as well, marble everything and garden tub - the Aveda toiletries were a nice tie in to the salon downstairs. Usually I don't really care about hallway decor in a hotel, other than that it's tasteful, but the artwork on display at the Alexis is wonderful. We have a ballerina in the family and took several photos of the displays just to show her.

The only drawbacks I identified were
- that I could have done without walking past the Aveda salon coming in and out, after a day or two, the fumes got to be a bit wearing.
- that the desk staff weren't terribly knowledgeable about the less tourist-y attractions in the area (we were doing more of an 'off the beaten path' focus)

Overall, it was a refreshing change to stay somewhere with personality and charm, rather than the usual cookie cutter modern hotel - definitely worth the extra $20-30. I make a point to recommend the Alexis to anyone we know visiting Seattle and now try to find Kimpton hotels whenever we travel.

Note: Be sure to sign up for the Kimpton rewards membership before you check in so you get points for your current stay. I didn't notice it until we were checking out (I'm sure they would have taken care of it if I had said something, but I was a bit flustered trying to get all those last minute things taken care of before we left town).

Dear KearstinB -

Pleace accept our thank-you for sharing your comments and review of the Alexis Hotel. Personal feedback means a great deal to all of us at the hotel, and your review of our property on TripAdvisor will help many future travelers in their travel planning decisions.

At the Alexis Hotel we strive to be less "cookie cutter" and more 'off the beaten path' and it sounds as though in most cases we succeeded! Your comments regarding our front office staff knowledge about the less touristy attractions in the area will be shared for our continued improvement. We are also sorry to hear about the 'fumes' from our Aveda salon just off the lobby. Generally this is not an issue but will investigate to see how we can best manage this issue for future guests and stays. The way our hotel floorplan is laid out - there are 2 "sets" of elevators, depending on which wing your room is located, one set does not go past the salon entry - thereby avoiding this issue, while the other set does. We'll work on this comment (thank you for sharing).

With our sincerest appreciation for your feedback,

Steve S.
