Our historic 1930s Art Deco digs, just a ten-minute stroll to UW’s campus, sits proudly in Seattle’s University District. Purple pride runs deep in the lush lobby, inviting Huskies past and present. Over 36 feet of plaidly clad sofas ease up to a communal coffee table warmly perched fireside. An installation of seashell mobiles dances above, an amped up wall invites conversation and jewel toned rooms wink at our storied past. High above, our scenic rooftop bar serves up hues and mountain views of the inspired landscape.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is miserable. I don't know how they have such good reviews with the issues they have. The hotel is in a pretty bad location, then the rooms are absolutely nasty. Dirty, unclean bedsheets, unclean bathroom with used q tips on the ground. Food and crumbs on the floor. Dirt and hair on the pillows, the main door doesn't shut or latch correctly and doesn't have a lock. If you pushed a little bit from the outside it would open. The ac doesn't work, it blasts heat all the time. And the staff is untrained. I'm shocked this is a hotel still functioning. Plus, you have a mandatory valet parking ($45) for each stay because there aren't any other parking options. The parking garage isn't visible and not accommodating. The location is sketchy and very much so not a good location as far as people and things around the hotel. I'm heavily disappointed. I also ordered food, paid for it and they wouldn't bring it up (heavily pregnant lady). They left it on the counter all night. This hotel is one of the worst I've been in.

We loved staying at this hotel. The design of the room was really beautiful. The coffee at the coffee shop was good, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The view of Seattle and Mount rainier from the rooftop are stunning!! We had a really good time there.

I reserved the room then called to confirm the room was ADA and had a roll in shower. I told the front desk I was a paraplegic and needed a roll in shower, and asked about bed height, Was told it was ADA compliant. Front desk told me they would refund my money if i didn't want to say in hotel, also said they would take me 2 blocks to a different hotel if I did not want to stay? The hotel was cool and the roof top bar was great, If I guess I wasn't paralyzed it would have been a great stay. Dont advertise ADA hotel if you dont meet the guidelines!

Had two rooms for two nights. One didn’t have heat and the other’s toilet didn’t flush. Management was not rude but ultimately unhelpful. They gave me no solutions. Very frustrating. I’ve enjoyed other Graduate Hotel stays in other cities, but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had recently.

This is a beautiful spot. The view from the rooftop bar is amazing. Walking distance to some delicious restaurants. The rooms were very clean and so cool to see all of the nods to the northwest, and history in general. Felt a little like old time Hollywood without traveling to California.

As you can see from my previous reviews of other hotels, I am a very experienced traveler. Until now, I have never felt the need to write a bad review. Ever. We had one issue after another. Most of the employees were wonderful, but the management was not. I had a terrible customer service experience. I will update if corporate contacts me with a response and resolution.

Our biggest regret from our wedding was hands down, getting ready at The Graduate. Despite calling, visiting in-person and leaving notes on file, everything went down the drain. From paying for early check-in and rooms not being ready to not having adjoining rooms we requested, it was a massive headache. We unfortunately spent most of our wedding, trying to sort out rooms and it sadly took so much away from our big day. We even called several times asking about when their suites would be ready and they couldn’t share if they had started or when they’d be done. When we called the month of, they shared they have suites but were all booked. We had given our information, kindly asking to be contacted when they’d be available so we could book them and that never happened. We were supposed to have fridges in our room and called 5x morning of the wedding… everytime we were told, “they’re on their way”. We got them at 12:45pm.

Chelsea, we are so sorry that your experience was not to your satisfaction. Our front office manager did reach out to you and members of your wedding party explaining things from the hotel's point of view and stating early check in was not guaranteed and we were doing out absolute best to accommodate your fridge requests and other items your party needed. We hope your wedding was a success and thank you for staying with us here at Graduate Seattle.

Love that this place was within walking distance to the concert we were seeing, plus many local restaurants for a late night snack. The Mountaineering club was chic and swanky, and provided a great dining experience.

The room is quirky and fun if you want to stay for a night. I stayed for three and it was too much. No fridge or microwave-I found out later that since it is older they can’t put those in. You can request a fridge. It is in walking distance of Safeway, university and the u-ave. It is also across the street of the Link. There is no breakfast. There is expensive onsite restaurant with a limited menu. Two nights I lost sleep due to hearing nonstop conversation by a person in a room next to me. The rooms are not quiet and the other person was not terribly loud. They do put ear plugs in the room, but I can’t use them. The staff were amazing. If I was only going to stay one night somewhere this would be fine due to location, staff and quirky history.

I love staying at the Graduate. There is a unique comfort and welcome vibe. The beds are so comfortable, the rooms clean, and whatever I needed, the front desk was on it. Being just a few steps to campus, knowing my car was safe, and the incredible sunset views from Mountaintop Club - all worth it, making my trips to UW campus memorable.
