Hotel is old but unique. Has lots of character. Restaurant/bar "The District" is a real asset. Food and atmosphere are great. Hotel location is convenient with restaurants/shopping within walking distance . This hotel is GREAT value for the $ in the Seattle area.

We have just returned after a two day stay at the Deca. What a great location and a home from home for two weary travellers. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the U District and found some great places to eat. Our room was up on the 12th floor and we enjoyed spectacular views of Downtown. The staff at reception were very helpful and having a shuttle service into the city centre made this the perfect stay, away from the bustle but easy access to what we wanted. We will be recommending this place to our travel agent in New Zealand

Room Tip: Go high. The views are brilliant

HelenandTony2014,

Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your visit. It would have been a very long trip to not experience the very best Seattle has to offer. Plus, if it was your first trip to Seattle the views gave you a great perspective on why we love Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Not many hotels in Seattle offer sweeping views of both mountain ranges, Mount Rainer, downtown Seattle, Lake Union, and Lake Washington. Hopefully based on your recommendation we will begin to see a number of guests from New Zealand stay with us. Thank you for being our voice so far away from Seattle.

Best Wishes,

Jonathan Bartlett

The pictures on the web site were exactly what we had in our room! I often find that the pictures of hotels "aren't quite" what you end up with, not at Hotel Deca. Lots of space, comfy beds and a walk in closet. Extra perk - they have custom made shampoo, body wash and conditioner in the bathroom!
The front desk was great, they were polite, friendly and answered our every question. This building is all key coded and secure. We had business at the University and it was all within walking distance. There is shopping, great food and many amenities all within walking distance. With everything so accessible we didn't even miss the lack of a pool. There is also a great fireplace in the sitting area.

This is a great city-location hotel. Even though it had hardly any of the amenities we usually look for (pool, breakfast, fridge and microwave in room), we knew this going in, and so were not disappointed. We did enjoy access to the coffee shop and bar located within the hotel block, and we enjoyed being able to walk to shops, restaurants, and attractions. Parking was pricy ($19/day) but luckily we were traveling with friends in a hotel with free parking nearby. Mostly, we enjoyed the charming decor - every last detail in the rooms and lobby were art deco-themed. Overall, great place to stay if you're willing to compromise on a few details.

Thank you linds310 for the outstanding review. I love that you considered us “charming”. I also think it is fantastic that you took the time to review the hotel so that you knew what you had reserved. So many guests do not take advantage of our incredible website. Our website is full of so many wonderful pictures, neighborhood facts, and complete lists of amenities. I think it better prepares guests so that they can have an amazing visit with us.

Thank you again,

We rented out two floors for the New Years show that was across the street. "Neptune Theater".The rooms were cool and upto date, with a unique flair. The beds are SUPER comfy with lots of Fluffy pillows. The staff tolerated us....LOL...it was New Years...LOL. It's close to Great food just a short walk away.

This hotel is incredibly overpriced and the service is horrible. You literally have to call and ask them to clean your room and bring fresh towels. For the price, you'd think they could afford actual toilet paper and a fan in the bathroom. I would NOT recommend this hotel if you would like to enjoy your stay.

Dear SeaCle,

Please accept my sincerest apologies about your experience at the hotel. I assure you we are not used to receiving reviews like yours and will make every attempt to correct these issues. While we love to read all of the positive reviews we take the few negative reviews very seriously and use them as a tool to learn where we may have fallen short in our goal to treat our guests to the highest level of care and comfort. I hope that one day you will try us again to see the changes we have made. I am confident your next visit will turn from a 1 star to a 5 star.

Thank you again.
