“Great location, close to transit”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We took the Amtrak Coast Starlight into Seattle, and so arrived late, due to the train schedule. However, the hotel was pretty close to the station and so was a short taxi ride. We were checked in quickly and efficiently. We moved our own luggage up to our room, and did end up with a bit of a trek to the room, as it was about as far away from the elevator as you can get. This only became an issue when it became clear that the ice machine was not on our floor, but was located equally far away from the elevator on another floor. Our floor had the guest laundry room, which was good to know, even if we never ended up taking advantage of it. The room we reserved was a one-bedroom suite, which had an incredible amount of storage for the four of us - including two big closets and two dressers. This is nice when you really like getting luggage out of the way and having space to unpack. The bedroom featured a king-sized bed and had its own flat screen TV. The living room had a queen sofabed (not made up) and a television, with a kitchenette, separated from the room by a counter that had some seating on it. There was also additional seating that made for a comfortable room. Everything was immaculate.
Since it was late, I called almost immediately to have the bed made up. I ended up having to request service again, as the housekeeper didn't show up the first time. I think they were having some trouble with their phones in general that day. I received an apology, and the housekeeper finally showed up. It turned out that the service was necessary, as the bedding for the sofa was actually missing, and they had to track down the sheets. This sofabed was very comfy and the kids didn't have any complaints about it.
There was a nice buffet breakfast each morning, with hot food and some minor variation in it (bacon or sausage, for example). Waffle makers, plenty of pastries and toasters, cold cereal and oatmeal, scrambled eggs, as well as juices, fruit, and coffee were available. The hotel also kept coffee and tea available all day for guests. Another nice feature of the hotel is a light meal at night. We missed the meal our first night due to our late arrival, but the next night they had a caesar salad and wedding soup, along with rolls. They provide beer & wine if you're inclined, though that cannot be taken to the room. I was given a tray to take the dinner up to the room and was told it was ok to leave outside the room, it would be picked up. It wasn't picked up by the time we left the next morning, so that told me that nobody does that last sweep of the halls.
This hotel has a very nice game room, with a Pacman table, virtual darts, a stand up golf game, and pool table. The pool is located outside, off this room. It's small but more than adequate, and nice. Towels were plentiful.
One of the big draws for this hotel is its location. It is very close to the freeway, and yes, is very near a busy medical center. We did hear some city noise, but we expected that - it's a city. It's also very close to the convention center, the Monorail to City Center (where the Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Science Center, and Glass Museum are) as well as the Westlake station, where you can pick up the CentralLink rail to get just about anywhere you'd want, including the stadiums or Pioneer Square. We really didn't need a car until it was time to leave for our next destination. Conveniently, Budget is located in the same building, so picking up the car was a breeze.
Overall, this was a very nice stay and I would certainly consider staying here again when in Seattle.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk for seeming miles in the hotel corridors, ask for a room closer to the...

we cannot recommend this hotel because of the above issue we experienced on a recent trip. An item in my wife's luggage disappeared while it was being kept for us when we had arrived early. If they address internal issues like this it would be not a bad place to stay. But because of the cost of the room and location, this kind of issue caught us totally by surprise.

With two rooms, breakfast and dinner, this is a good deal. It's close enough to all the sights.
You only hear I-5 if you open the windows. Nothing smelled. The staff is friendly.
It's not deluxe but great for a sleeping.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at this Hilton property for five nights. It is a good choice for access to the Convention Center, with an easy walk and quick, safe route. Continuing further down the hill, the Market is an easy walk. Going in the opposite direction, a full circle block offers a great variety of restaurants, from pricey to inexpensive (for Seattle). However, this direction gets less nice pretty fast, although my daughter walked blocks by ourselves exploring.
We had a corner king suite on the 6th floor - attractive wraparound layout with full bank of windows on all sides. Small balcony and corner fireplace in the living area. Kitchen is small, but adequate. (One day, we bought all ingredients for dinner at the Market and had a gourmet meal prepped 100% in the room.) The king bed was comfy and bathroom use was convenient from both areas. One problem is that if the sleeper sofa is out, you basically have inches to get in and out of the master bedroom. Annoying, but doable if you cut through the bathroom. Yes, the wallpaper seems dated and some wear is obvious in the bathroom and common areas, but not unacceptable for a hotel room. Convenient coin-operated laundry on alternate floors, but weird that ice machines are also on alternate floors! Also, can't go anywhere w/o room key for security. Street noise didn't bother us - could hear sirens, but minimal other - and we were the room that has two sides fronting the street/interstate. NO noise from adjoining rooms or hallway.
Personnel were all friendly and anxious to help - especially liked Kolya (?) in the eating area. One problem: Each time I called for our car, I arrived downstairs to find that the front desk had not even notified the valets yet, so we always had to wait a few minutes. Housekeeping okay - not exceptional- ran late everyday and if they caught us in the room, always wanted us to tell them we didn't need service that day!
Food: usual Hilton breakfast fare, except NO variety in terms of scrambled eggs EVERY morning. Evening meal was marginal; the salad bar offerings were good enough, but the greens were a little worn every night. Minimal protein and lots of carbs (lasagna, tortellini, veg chili), but it is a pleasant and convenient option if you plan by the menu and realize that you are getting a full meal with drinks and cookies, saving a few $$ for other fun, like dessert from the Cheesecake Factory or Creperie just down Pike from the hotel.

Room Tip: Appears that rooms on higher floors have less street noise. We liked suite 610.

meaniegreen,

We appreciate your detailed review of our property. I'd like to apologize if the front desk did not communicate your needs quickly enough. Great to hear that Kolya provided excellent service and that you found the room to be quiet, that's a tough order in a downtown location. We hope to see you again.

Warm regards,

Scott

If you hope to rest...this hotel is NOT the place to do it. It is located right next to I-5. The hallways stunk like cat urine. The street noise kept us awake all night. Be sure to bring earplugs along! The rooms are VERY spacious and the beds very comfortable. Our breakfast was good. You will have to pay an extra $35/night for parking as it is not included in the price and they don't tell you that when you book!

Shona T,

We're sorry you were so disappointed with your stay. We do try to be as open and honest about our list of charges as possible. We do list the valet charge of $34/night plus taxes on our website and our agents are trained to mention that during booking. We hope you give us another chance.

Warm regards,

Scott

Granted we selected this hotel for location AND price, so in booking we knew it was not the Ritz-Carlton, however, for a Hilton property it was somewhat disappointing. To begin, we were put up in a room on the 3rd floor exposed to significant traffic noise. But the worst part was this was a smoking room in what was apparently the smoking wing, though I had specifically requested a non-smoking room. I did not fight them for a non-smoking suite, as the room odor was tolerable, but the odor walking up and down the hall was an annoyance for the duration of our stay. The entire place had a slightly funky odor, be it on the pool deck or the deck where the laundry was located. The housekeeping services were pretty much atrocious. They left trash, empty coffee cups and glasses on the desk every day of our stay. The sofa bed in our king suite, well, it sucked. A thin mattress over steel frame wrapped in a plastic bag that caused the sheets to slip off all night. Parking was valet only. Though the staff did a great job of getting you your car immediately on request, the property charged $34 (plus tax) daily for parking. The property did a passable breakfast (think "Hampton Inn") and had very stable wi-fi, and the location was quite near some great restaurants and only 10 blocks up the hill from Pike Place Market. They had a good selection of snacks, ice cream etc. for fairly reasonable prices on offer, and they took pretty good care of their (small, outdoor) pool area. I have stayed in many worse places, but also many better better. Next time, I'll spend a few more dollars per night for a higher tier Hilton property.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor in a non-smoking area!
