Travelodge Seattle North of Downtown

This was a great, cheap stay. First, the front desk staff was very helpful. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the man when we checked in, but he was extremely helpful. We had questions about the bus route, etc., and he was great. The bus stop for the "E" bus, that goes straight downtown, is RIGHT in front of the hotel (drops off in front of hotel, you get on to go south across the street about a block down), which was super convenient. The guy we checked out with was very nice, too. The room was clean and fairly comfortable. Pretty roomy, table and chairs next to the kitchenette. No, not a 5 star hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. Also, the fan in the bathroom worked really well. I know that sounds weird, but it helped after showers in an already humid city. Wifi was slow, but we expected that. I didn't feel at all like it was a bad part of town, I thought it was nice. A super cute, delicious coffee shop/breakfast/lunch place was right down about a block away (Boardroom Cafe). We ate there both mornings, so I can't comment on the complimentary breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

But I will avoid it in the future. The area around it is simply too rough and the hotel is not that great either. For the price and location, it is adequate. However, don't expect a room that is spic-and-span: the right mindset here is "ok, for the price". Other issues: free wifi was not worth the price I paid for it, hot water took a while to get going, sink was slow to drain, and bath lighting took a while to reach full intensity. All in all, adequate for the price but I will avoid it in the future.
